More about Akama Resort

Loved the massive balcony

by TripAdvisor Member Andre070

It was my families second trip to Hervey Bay from the cold and unpredictable wheather of Melbourne. Our accomodation at Akama was booked by a friend who had recommended it to us. They also recommended apartment #2 which contains a massive balcony, easy access to the pool and private grassed area, all ideal for a hyperactive supercharged 4 year old. It was fantastic as we could let him run free within the confines of the designer glass fencing. When it came to swim time, it was an easy step down to the pool from the balcony and even more convenient when having to drag the kids back to the apartment. The presentation of the apartment and facilities should most probably rate as the best in Hervey Bay suited for the deserning traveller. This is all underpinned by the freindliness and diligence of the facility management in Matt and Pia.
I will be back! (Apartment #2)

It just gets better

by TripAdvisor Member JPT48

After staying at this superb resort soon after they opened we decided to return again for a week early in December. Wow! Have they got everything covered. We had a great unit, the pool area was spotless at all times and if you needed a pool towel etc. the reception you got at the office made you feel that you were really special. Akama could show a lot of the bigger resorts how it should be done. We have already recommended it to our friends and have no hesitation to pass on the tripAdvisor users the benifit of our experience. Forget Noosa or the Gold Coast, Hervey Bay and AKAMA Resort are by far a better holiday destination.

Great Place for a family to stay

by TripAdvisor Member DiverDanSydney

Really well appointed new self contained apartments. Plenty of room for a family of five in the 3 bedroom unit and in fact room for 6. Great space for hanging out. Little touches like being able to get a coffee machine for the apartment ($10) are a plus. BBQ area is well set out with a large (6 burner) BBQ and the pool and spa are great to hang out in. Matt and Pia (with help from Finn and Chili) who run the place do a great job. Really helfpul nice people. TOP SPOT. Only thing that lets it down slightly is location...Caravan park across the road so don't think it is on the beach. Check exact location on Google Maps. Not a reason not to go..it's a really good place...just be aware of where you are.

The best in Hervey Bay

by TripAdvisor Member BrisbaneViv31

We have just returned home from a wonderful 3 night break at Akama. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment which had all the comforts of home. The apartment was very spacious and had quality furnishings. I was a bit disappointed at first as it did not overlook the sea but it is located in the best position at Hervey Bay. The Marina and great restaurants were within easy walking distance. Matt and Pia were very helpful in suggesting fabulous trips out to Fraser Island. We would definately stay there again. Chilli the staffy who welcomed us to the hotel is an absolute gem. We can't wait for our next getaway to this great resort.

fabulous, friendly service

after staying at Akama i would recommend it to anyone, it's well appointed, in a great location and the management are very helpful(nothing is to much trouble). the rooms are comfortable and clean. the view over the bay is to die for. i'll be going back and soon

So spacious, and great amenities

by TripAdvisor Member amberchatwin1985

I really loved this apartment, we didnt stay long as we went on a trip to fraser island, but the apatment itself is very spacious, we had a nice big balcony where we sat and had lunch, although its facing the sea we couldnt see it due to an abundance of massively tall trees!

We used the big communal pool and jacuzzi which was lovely, they have a communal BBQ area which would have been nice to use if we had more time.

Highly recommend, especially if there is a few of you, there was only 2 of us but had 2 bedrooms and bathrooms to ourselves!

Very well equipped kitchen and modern amenities.

We ate at most days and nights as its self catering, and got some bits for breakfast in the morning!

We'll be back!

My partner and I spent a week at Akama in January and didn't want to leave. The apartment was everything we hoped it would be. Clean, well equiped and with a large balcony for outside dining. We spent a lot of our time lazing by the sparkling swimming pool and spa. The staff were really friendly and helpful and we were able to book our Hervey Bay tour direcly through them without paying any extra. We're hoping to book one of the beautiful penthouse apartments next time when we holiday with some friends. We'll definitely be back to stay at Akama.

Everything you could ask for.

by TripAdvisor Member Goldcoast4

We have just spent 3 nights at the resort over the easter break and could not of asked for more. All the staff were friendly and more than helpful, and as for the apartment FANTASTIC. They are spacious and have outside dining with a great view over looking the pool and spa. When we travel back up to Hervey Bay would not hesitate to stay there again.

Brand new, spacious, modern, immaculate!

by TripAdvisor Member MilwaukeeKat

Our family spent two nights at this lovely sleek hotel. Our three bedroom apartment was large and spacious with two gleaming bathrooms and a large sparkling modern kitchen sporting all the amenities. We loved that the entire end wall of the living room was a folding glass door that collapsed to each side so that the whole room opened to the balcony. We enjoyed the pool and sauna. The hotel staff was friendly and happy to help us with recommendations and arrangements.

Hervey Bay's terrain is relatively flat which limits "great views" from the balcony but Akama's location across from the marina is pleasant.

The only choise on the coast

by TripAdvisor Member Steve189

I stayed there with with two friends. i booked a two bedroom for the night but on arrival wanted to upgrade to a three bedroom. this was no problem. the room was amazing. my main bedroom had a large LCD on the wall, glass all around the front with great views and a amazing bathroom, there was another bathroom and the kitchen was huge. the lounge and dinning were very nice with a 50'' tv and door that folded to each side to the patio. being on the 2nd highest floor we had a great view the the ocean and ever room had a patio with views all over hervey bay. the spa and pool area was relaxing with bathroom and outdoor kitchen. never wanted to leave.
