We are looking into a week long trip soon with sons aged 10 and 15. They really want to fly somewhere and am trying to keep to a tight budget. Have heard Hervey Bay is a nice place?????
Hervey Bay is a nice place for a quiet family holiday - maybe too quiet for a 15yo? You can go whale watching and go for a day trip to Fraser Island.

I agree with the previous poster. Hervey Bay is nice for a family, but a 15 yr old may well gt a little bored.
Your profile does not say where you are from, so that doesn't help us suggest alternatives.
You could consider the sunshine coast though. They have the surf beaches there, Australia Zoo is not that far away, there is good cafe/restaurant culture a day trip to Noosa national park, sunshine coast hinterland etc.
i would have to agree that the Sunshine Coast is a great destination for all ages - not just because I live there!
Something easy to handle.. suitcases on wheels are probably the best. Most of the time, shorts and t's are all you will need. Perhaps some nice casual gear for going to resturants/clubs and like places. From May till September, might be wise to bring some cool weather clothing as well. You can buy everything here, but do bring your prescription medicines. Bring you cameras... film is available everywhere. Sunscreens and repellents are a must... but you can also buy these here.
Hervey Bay has many old houses, in the style of the 'Queenslander' Some have been beautifully restored and preserved, and well looked after.. where as others have been let go, and really in need of some repair work.
