This Caravan park is located in amongst houses at Point Vernon, Hervey Bay. We found the park to be well kept and clean. It has a Camp Kitchen which features barbecues, gas stoves, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, coke machine and plenty of seating. We come here and meet fellow travellers. There's a TV and library room and children’s playground.
For those who don't wish to swim at the Beach, they have a large saltwater pool with rock gardens and waterfall, and for the children, a whale fountain.
For those with-out their own accommodation, ensuite cabins are available and are air-conditioned and have a fully self-contained kitchen, TV and dining room with all linen provided. Park cabins are also available.
The park was lovely with green lawns, swaying palms, concrete slabs, water and sullage for Caravanners.
The only thing we didn't like, was the distance to the main part of Hervey Bay. This is the "quiet" area of the Bay, so if you want to be nearer shops etc., it may not suit. Even though this park was great, we wouldn't return here because of this.
Prices vary between seasons, so expect to pay a lot more in high season.
An example is ensuite Cabins
In 2013 off-peak price is $95 High season $160

Want a nice, quiet park to stay at?
I can recommend the Hervey Bay Caravan Park. This park is located at the end of a no - through road, and is gated making it a very secure park. The park is spread over 7 acres, and has quite a few permanents living there, you wouldn't even know they were there!
The whole park is clean and tidy, is lawned and has plenty of shade trees, a nice BBQ area [free Barbie] a swimming pool, clean amenities block including a laundry with coin operated machines and dryers. Dogs are allowed. For people without their own accommodation, Cabins are available, basic and with en-suite.
The only point I didn't like about the park, was the wifi. They have wifi, but you have to join Nomadnet online which happened to be very expensive, something like $6 for half hour - I didn't bother!
The Park is next door to the Urangan Bowls club, a club that welcomes anybody who wants to play bowls. Meals are said to be good there, or you can catch the Courtesy bus to the Boat Club & RSL Club for a meal. I found it was approx. a 10min walk to a large shopping centre, the beach and take-away shops.
Next to the park were some lovely walks around lakes.
The park is an OZ Park. If your a member of OZ parks, then you receive a 10% discount. It is listed as a 4* park, it lived up to this reputation. We will return!
Hervey Bay is a very popular holiday destination, as it is the gateway to Fraser Island and Whales come here by the hundreds. If you are coming in Whale season or in school holidays, it is best to book accommodation in advance.
booked in for a quiet holiday in hervey bay didn't want to stay at a large resort but more like a home away from home
the anchorage is centrally located in torquay just behind the esplanade in hervey bay the unit
has 2 bedrooms laundry bathroom toilet kitchen and living area
it is next to the IGA supermarket carpark that is the problem you get to hear all the machinery noise for the air con and refrigerators all night even if you close all the windows and doors you can still hear it
this kept us for most of the night
you also get to hear people rummaging through the bins at 0300
and if you do manage to fall asleep you can be woken up by employees arriving for work at 0630
if you have earplugs this should not be a problem but to make sure you get sleep deprived the mattress on the double bed is like concrete
so if you want to stay here bring earplugs and an air mattress and you should be ok
on the plus side the place has toys books dvd's and the owner does want you to feel at home
it is close to shops and restaurants and the beach is just over the road
the towels are large and fluffy
if you want a cheap family holiday and cater for yourself and don't mind the machinery noise and hard bed it's ok
we were so sleep deprived we left early
the owner has offered us alternative accommodation for another time
We found Billabong Beach Houses through the Internet. The staff were really helpful and friendly and took care of our needs. The motel itself was nice looking. The only downsides were that the room that we got didn't have an air conditioner (although it did have a fan (SEE THE OTHER PICTURES FOR THE INSIDE)). An air conditioner would have gone a long way on the the comfort side of things. Lucky for us, it was only December. I've heard it gets much hotter there in January and February.
The Billabong staff also made all of our arrangements for us for visiting Fraser Island. We saw a number of other Hotels and Motels in the same area but all of them were booked up.
Billabong also has parking, a pool, and a laundry room. It's located right across the street from the oceanside.
It wasn't too difficult to find.
Withing close driving distance are a number of stores and restaurants on the same road (or about a 20-minute walk).
Located right on the esplanade, in one of the quietest parts of Hervey Bay is the Shelley Beach Motel. Run by 2 sisters, Debra & Teena, it is well maintained ,and the rooms well equipped. There is a large parking area at the rear ( large enough for trailer & dinghy)The rooms were about $80 Aus/night. I think this place is really good value.
This backpackers is oppposite the beach and you can see Fraser Island, rooms are a good size and ask for 201 if you want a fridge,tv and your own balcony. Pool and huge bar area and they organize the self drive 4wd tours to Fraser island. had an absolute ball here and recommend it to any one. I now live in Hervey Bay it is known as Gods Waiting Room for very good reason it is absolute paradise.
Great views, 4WD tours to Fraser Island good value
The Whitecrest Apartments are another lovely accommodation place to stay at. I have not stayed here, since I live in this city, but have heard only nice things about it.
There is a swimming pool, and the beach is just across the road.
