WHALE WATCHING BOAT
by aussiejen
There are lots of boats to choose from. We didn't pre book, instead we wandered down to the marina early morning and checked them out first. There are some very large boats with lots of people on them, we chose a medium size one. The crew were fantastic. Lots of info given on the whales.
I can recommend QUICK CAT 11.
Hervey Bay

"A Nice Place to Stay Before Going to Fraser Island"
My wife and I choose to go here before preceeding onto Fraser Island. There are quite a few places to stay. It can be humid at night (being so close to the water).
I didn't get a chance to take many pictures of Hervey Bay but, I did get a few of of bats flying in the sky.
"Bats everywhere"
It was really cool to see all the bats flying around in the sky. I knew right away that they weren't birds because of the way that they were flying. We also have bats in Niigata, Japan (where I live) but they're smaller, very difficult to see, and fly only a few meters above the ground.
The bats here in Hervey Bay are much bigger and obviously have a long wing span. The most interesting thing was their shear numbers. There were tens of thousands of them in the sky with their numbers stretching for more than a few miles.
