hi im emigrating from the uk to mackay in the near future, can any one please give me any advise as to schools i have 3 children 12, 9 and 4 or any other advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi...I received your email about info on Mackay. Did you receive my reply? It was sent to an outside email adress [ don't know why ] What sort of schools are you looking for ie...private church schools or public ones. We have plenty of both. Anything else in particular you want to know?

we live about 40 mins from london and we was worried that we would be in the back of beyond?
but your photo's have shown us that mackay is a beautiful place i think it has everything we as a family would need. my other concern is the heat . my two daughters have pale skin and light auban(strawberry blond) hair.
what are the suburbs like?
what is the average house rental for a 4 bedroom house. we cannot buy for the first two years due to visa restrictions.?
sorry for lots of questions but you are the only person i have found to have extensive knowledge of mackay.

Hi...
House rental here is about $300+ a week. That's about 120 pound. Most rentals are paid weekly. You won't have to pay any govt. tax, that bill goes to the landlord...we call it council rates.
Hard to tell you what suburb would be best. Depends on where you are working too. Andergrove and Eaglemount Heights are nice looking suburbs but have a higher crime rate. Some suburbs are of the older style where as others are quite new. You could live out at one of the beaches...they are nice.
As per your childrens complexions...well there are lots here like that. Most of us are from British decent. Just have to take care out in the sun. Hats and school uniforms are compulsory. Children aren't allowed out into the playground without a hat.
All houses have ceiling fans and a lot have air conditioners. All windows are screened so windows can be left open. All businesses, banks, shops, libraries etc are airconditioned. I think I may have told you all that. Temperatures here now are very mild. Lows of 15 and highs of 22 and it's winter. I have a web site you may be interested in...

A hat preferably wide brimmed. Swim wear and thongs will do at the beach. Maybe a sarong or two. Comfortable footwear for walking around. Sunscreen - a big bottle at least 15+ and mosquito repellent. Heaps of film though you can buy some here if you run out. Large beach towell.
