Nice backpacker place.

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)

I staed 3 nights at the Mooloolaba beach backpackers when i was in Mooloolaba for a vt meet in august 2012 and was quite happy there.
At the age of 43 i don't stay at hostels too often anymore, but the high prices of Australia made me go back to my old backpacker roots and take a dorm bed in a hostel and that was quite ok.
the room i stayed in had 4 beds and good space for us to move around.
Bathroom was outside, but right next to the room and i was fine with that.
The place had a really good common area with pooltable, swimmingpool, couches, internet area and the place is really nice if you are a yong at heart traveller who likes to socialise with other travellers while saving money.
Breakfast was included and that was nothing to write home about, but at least it gave me my much needed morning coffee.
Staff was very good and friendly there and i would recommend this place to people who are on a budget and like to socialise.

Directions: Right across the road from the bowling club on Brisbane road.

Sunshine Coast,Queensland, Australia

We inspected the Backpackers today...2012 ...for some VT members planning to come to the Aussie Mooloolaba Meet.

Well what a good position...handy to most of what Mooloolaba has to offer.

Lots of young people were lounging around as it was a very wet day. I was told there was wi fi available ( you have to pay), free parking (we were in it),and free use of surf boards.

A deposit was required for blankets ...there was a shared kitchen on the floor I inspected..

Also bicycles, a laundry, and free shuttle services available.

You will find more info on website.

Unique Quality: Not being au fait with backpackers I was pleased to find a very pleasant staff member who showed me one of the private rooms and the general layout.. We had to walk up 2 flights of stairs. The corridor was a bit dark but it was a dull day. The room was bright enough. There was a communal kitchen.

Check-in
12:00 - 22:00 hours
Check-out

Single Bed in Mixed Dormitory Room

April 2012 cost was from $28 per night or $168 for a week ...up to $100 per night $600 a week for private room with beds for 3 people.

Obviously this is not luxury but it appeared clean, the staff friendly, and it is right at Mooloolaba...a short walk along Brisbane Road to the heart of Mooloolaba.

Directions: On Brisbane Road just opposite the Bowls Club

Sorry I forgot my camera and this photo is a bit stylized...I did not see the pool

Best Hostel on Sunshine Coast!

I've been staying at Mooloolaba Backpackers for almost 2 weeks now. It is the only hostel in Mooloolaba, and is located about 5 minutes walk from the beach. Now you would think that because they're the only hostel here, they might drop the ball a bit and not bother to organize events or try very hard. Not at all. Every night there is something on. Sometimes it's food related (last night they had wood-fired pizzas for only $2), sometimes it's alcohol-related (Thursday night is goon-pong night (goon is wine)) and sometimes there are excursions and activities. But the best thing is that there is no obligation to do any of these. If you just want to chill out then you can do that too.

The hostel has all usual hostel things (pool table, Internet, laundry etc) but also a couple of things I haven't seen in many other hostels (swimming pool, table-tennis table, free hire of surfboards and paddle boards). The do free breakfast every morning which has been very useful for me, and there is a tour desk if you are needing to book trips or plan onward travel.

I am staying in an ensuite dorm room, which is a little more expensive than a standard dorm, but worth it in my opinion. The whole hostel is cleaned thoroughly every day, and the staff and friendly and helpful.

I'd reccomend this hostel to anyone considering a trip to the Sunshine Coast. Mooloolaba is a great base from which to explore.

Unique Quality: pool, free hire of bicycles, surfboards, stand up paddleboards and kayaks, free breakfast

Stayed in one of the private rooms here. Wanted to stay here rather than a hotel to save money.

Unique Quality: only a stroll to the beach, and to the free shuttle Australia Zoo bus, a TV in the room, and private bathroom which you dont often get with a hostel. Free brekkie and cheap internet. You get to meet other travellers to which is nice if you are travelling solo
