Try Not to Stay Here

This is now part of the All Seasons Chain and I would not recomment it to anyone.
The prices are way over the top so you might expect something good - but... the rooms are shabby, dirty, threadbare; the pillows were secondhand when Noah got rid of them; the towel rail fell off if you touched it; the tap didn't work properly; the air conditioning stopped working; the room service food was probably the worst I have ever had; the advertised internet connection is a pay wireless network that didnt work in the room I stayed in or your own paid for dial-up service on the telephone line; the gym is not on the premises. It is very close to the mines and fertiliser plant - and you get noise 24 hours a day. The carpark was littered with dead rats and cigarette butts and every few feet there is an enormous sign saying PARK HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK. The staff are very pleasant and responsive, quick to blame the hotels obvious shortcomings on the owner, and deserve a medal for working in a place where the customers are going to be unhappy and there's nothing they can do about it. All Seasons ought to be ashamed to call this part of their chain.

Mercure Hotel Verona Mount Isa

Claimed to be the finest hotel in Mount Isa, I find it to be only an average hotel compared to what you can get in Melbourne, but I suppose you can't expect too much in the outback. The room was clean, though the bathroom appeared to be quite old and in need of repair (fractured tiles).

Really enjoyed the in-house movies, most are the latest movies just out in the cinema. Perfect for hiding in the airconditioned room when the temperature hits 40 over degrees Celcius outside.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. When I asked the receptionist how to get to the Royal Flying Doctor Service she told me to wait for 10 minutes coz she'll be off by then and she could drive me there. :)

You gotta try the dishes in the restaurant! Barramundi, which has the reputation as Australia's finest eating fish, is abdundant in this area. Very fresh and delicious, love the sauce that goes with it.
