Travel Tips for Noosa Heads

Cruise The Noosa River

by Mikebb

There are several ferry operators who conduct cruises on the river to suit all occassions. There are lunch and evening tours, morning and afternoon tours which include tea, coffee and biscuits. We took a very enjoyable 2 hour tour mid afternoon which took us down the river to see the Noosa National Park and mangroves, then out to the river mouth. Our tour was just 2 days after Steve Irwin,'The Crocodile Man" was killed by a stingray and along the mangroves we saw at least 6 small stingrays. The tour also took us along the canals where the rich and famous holiday in the fabulous homes. An excellent commentary was provided.

Hard to fly like an eagle when you're a turkey

One thing the Sunshine Coast is not short of is scrub turkeys.
This particular one is in the carpark at Peregian Beach but they are fairly common throughout the area.
Whilst staying in our B&B at Flaxton I used to watch them each evening as they ascended in stages to the heights of the rainforest trees in order to nest for the night.
During the daytime they scratch and scrape through the leaf litter for assorted items of vegetable or insect matter or scrounge scraps off the tourists. Either way, they don't go hungry.

Sunshine Coast, Queensland

by SmilingTraveller

Mooloolaba is located at the mouth of the Mooloolah River, just south of Alexandra Headland. The inlet to the river is very narrow, situated between Mooloolaba Beach and Point Cartwright. Amid the calm waters of the inlet is a major harbour which is home to the Auckland to Mooloolaba and the Sydney to Mooloolaba Yacht Races.

The Esplanade has a range of restaurants from beachfront cafes to fine dining. For a bargain alternative, head down to the wharf and buy your fresh seafood direct from the boats at one of the many seafood shops in the area.
