The Falls: B&B in the hinterland
This was one of those times when you're travelling that you get some boasting rights.
We got the address of a few from the Information Centre at Montville and went to see this one first as I remembered that they had a vacancy when I had been searching the internet.
Thus it was that John and Denise showed us around their establishment. Straight off John took us to their piece de resistance, the honeymoon cottage. John has been through the routine before, as evidenced by his full-paced chatter and directions as he outlined all the advantages of the cottage.
Sadly, the cottage was out of our price range but they did have some B&B accommodation in their spacious residence near the top of the hill. That would have to do. We put a deposit on that for the morrow.
Unique Quality: When we returned there had been a change of plans. Yes, we had to suffer the honeymoon cottage, resplendent with its spa, polished floors, exotic fittings (even a bidet as an option) and all set amidst the rainforest.
We concurred that we would probably be able to suffer the upgrade, but only for a few nights!
The bliss of the spa that Rosemarie loved, sitting on the verandah watching the wildlife (essentially birds), relaxing in the peace on the comfy bed. Yes, maybe we could live with that for a few days.
This multi-award winning establishment has been featured on Australia's most popular tourist show, Getaway.
From the moment you pull into the carpark, it's not hard to understand why. The varied flora alone is reason enough to tempt one, let alone the seclusion of each cottage, the friendliness of the hosts and the fact that it is set right in the rainforest.
If you have the money and the time, you will enjoy your experience here.
The prices vary from around $130AUS per night for a couple to over $250AUS depending on which part of The Falls you stay in.

TIN CAN BAY TOURIST PARK: Quiet campground
This caravan park is located one street back from the Boulevarde. Its in a nice quiet area. We stayed with our own Caravan, the area backed onto the bush. Everything is here that you need, a shop, swimming pool, Free BBQ's, and all necessary facilities. We enjoyed our stay here, and will be back for a longer one.

CAMP COOROORA: CHEAP & GOOD!
Camping on the Sunshine coast is not that cheap anymore.
We happened to come across Camp Cooroora, located about a 10minute drive from Tewantin, and add another 5mins for Noosa Heads.
It is a Scount Camp, so the facilities for group camping are excellent. There is a large outdoor eating area, and a great big Camp Kitchen. Another area, and another big BBQ for cooking on. The Amenities block was old, but clean, there were no doors on the Showers, just curtains and the water was HOT!
The lawned area is huge, it has chairs and bench's scattered around, plus large fireplaces to enjoy an open campfire. A group that was there, was cooking Damper, mmm.....the smell.....Wished I was with that group!
The lawned area leads right to the edge of Lake Macdonald, here you are allowed to go Canoeing and Kayaking. A bush walk leads for quite a way along the lakes edge.
Back at the Camp site, a friendly Kookaburra, Lemon Headed Rosella's, and many other Birds.
We enjoyed our time here, it was quiet, and the Caretakers were nice, friendly, helpful people.
It is a good base for exploring the Sunshine coast, and for Groups, and best of all, it is a lot cheaper!
A powered site in 2010 cost.......$20 night for 2 people.
BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL

BOREEN POINT CAMPING GROUND: As close to the Beach as you can get!
The Boreen Point Camping ground is right on the edge of Lake Cootharaba.
In Summer, it would be great, as it is set amongst plenty of Paper Bark Trees, you would be in shade most of the day.
Most of the campsites are unpowered, with only eight having power. They are not set out very well, and even though the campground was nearly empty, some people had trouble manouvering there Vans out of their site. This was because of Trees, and the way the sites were laid out, they hadn't been thought out!
The Amenities were clean, not spotless. The shower cubicle was small, and the shower sprayed most of the area making it hard to keep clothes dry. The water was hot. There was no laundry here, nor sullage points. Water was Bore water, but some Rainwater was available. There is a new undercover BBQ area and seating.
The lake is shallow, and there is a sandy beach making this campground very popular in the school holidays and during public holidays. During these times, you would need to book for a powered site. Other sites are taken on a first come, first served basis.
At other times it is quite quiet.
The campground hires out Catamarans.
I think this park is great if you have children, or if you want to chill out in a quiet spot by a beach & Lake.
I did think the price was high compared to other Parks that had more amenities.
Cost in 2010 for a powered site for 2 people was.....$24 a night
Located about 26kms from Noosa Heads

Noosa Pacific Riverfront Resort: Accommodation on Noosa River
We stayed here along the Noosa River.
The accommodation is self contained accommodation with 2 bedrooms, full kitchen with dishwasher and laundry. It was very comfortable and I would totally recommend it.
Unique Quality: Absolute river frontage. Close to shops and beach and an easy walk to Noosa's famous Hastings Street.

outside of noosa: Outside of hostels
Just a tip, if you are going with 3-5 people, try staying right outside of Noosa at one of the nicer 3* and up places. You can get a very good deal per person, and many times if you stay for two or more nights, it works out to be less than a hostel per night per person.

Colonial Resort: Great place to relax
Great place to stay.
The unit was very tidy and had everything you needed for a relaxing get away.
Pool facilities and BBQ area were also a great way to enjoy the sunny weather we had.
I loved the unit and the view from the balcony was delightful, day and night.
Unique Quality: The pool was large and very clean, salt water not chlorine, which is better for frequent swims.
BBQ area was always tidy and a joy to use.
