Hidden Gem in Port Douglas

We have been coming to Port Douglas for many years for our holidays and were blessed when we discovered DreamCatcher Apartments some 5 years ago not long after it opened.

DreamCatcher is located in a perfect location for beach lovers like us, 50 metres and you are on the southern end of 4 Mile Beach which I believe is one of the best beaches in the world! Kept us coming back time and time again. Located just 5 minutes from town with two local bus operators picking up and dropping off right in front of the apartments for $3 each way. We always hire a car but the bus service is great if you want to have a drink or two in town!

Across the road is The Tavern which serves really nice pub style food at nice prices. 50 metres from The Tavern which also has a bottle shop is our favorite restaurant in Port Douglas The Beach Shack, fantastic food and great service, great atmosphere with sand on the floor and live music typically on a Friday night...try one of their steaks!

The apartments are very bright, airy and modern. Air-conditioned and ceiling fans make for comfortable living whenever we have stayed, however being so close to the sea the sea breezes are lovely. There is a small kitchen with a good sized fridge which is handy when you stay a week or two like we typically do.

There is a lovely BBQ area right by the pool with a covered area where you can sit and have your BBQ dinner. We have had many BBQs there and we have met some truly lovely people over the years. Their tropical gardens are stunning which surround all the apartments and indeed most of the property.

DreamCatcher has only 12 apartments all one bedroom so more suitable for couples than families, another reason why we like staying there....the quiet. We have had friends from oversea catch up with while we have been there and on that occasion we were able to book a dual key apartment.

John and Annie the owners are great, very helpful. They are locals and know what's happening either in town, the region or the reef and who have the best charters and tours.

DreamCatcher is a hidden gem for people like us who like a quieter location but great position. We have now built a house here in Port Douglas and feel comfortable writing a report that otherwise might have stopped us from getting accommodation in our dream location! (-:

A: "We have done both and and would suggest you do the Rail & Skyrail. These are not so dependent on the weather and are fantastic adventures. In the March is still iffy as..."
