Underwater Camera Hire Palm Cove/Port Douglas

by jserel

Hello all!

I will be in Palm Cove this time next week and I am looking to hire an underwater camera for our day-trip to the Great Barrier reef. We are lodging in Palm Cove so a location there would be preferable. Our tour will be leaving from Port Douglas so I suppose that that would be the alternative location to pick up a camera.

Please and thank you in advance.

There are many photo shops at the Marina in Port Douglas- its possible to buy disposable underwater cameras for very little cost , and they work just fine.
They may also hire out cameras-

www.oakbeachproductions.com.au/index are based in Port Douglas and hire out underwater digital cameras.

And as already mentioned by previous poster, there's no shortage of disposable cameras for sale. Approx $A35 plus cost developing the film: hire of camera is approx $65 with a given amount of memory. Main issue with hiring is most places will want to provide a lesson on its use - if you are on a tour, there may be no time to do this.

Thank you. Are you familiar with any shops that hire underwater cameras located in Palm Cove?

Hello,
Nearly all the reef boats hire out underwater cameras leaving from Port Douglas,Palm Cove and Cairns.

The Outrigger Boat Club and spa,in Palm Cove hire out underwater cameras.

or

If you are going out on a reef tour most tour companies hire out underwater cameras.

Cairns Digital Underwater camera hire--

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

When I went snorkeling on the Reef, some people had disposable under water cameras. The quality of the photos wasn't very good at all. I suppose one could say it's better than nothing, but then again I'd be disappointed if my photos came out all blues and greens. Dorrise lives in the area so I'm going with her suggestion. Hope this helps you out a bit...:}

Travel Tips for Port Douglas

Take the road " Out Back" to Cooktown

by ATXtraveler

One of the new things to do up in Port Douglas that can still be considered "off the beaten path" at least for the next year or two is to take the backroads up to Cooktown. Since the past 100 years or so, this has needed a 4x4, it might be the ideal time to do it now!

If you head off from Port Douglas as if headed to Cape Trib, take a cutoff and head out toward Cooktown through Palmer River Roadhouse. There really are some great views to be seen on this little backroad, and it will be well worth the time!

They don't charge a booking feee and are happy to offer free advice and information

Bike Riding

by Anne12

This is an easy activity for all the family. There are a couple of places that you can hire a bike for a week or a day. they have bikes with kiddy seats also.
You must wear a helmet in Australia when riding a bike.
Port is very flat so you can ride anywhere. You can also ride along the beach.

A bike is approx $70 per week

Port Douglas - Paradise

"We know why its called a "rainforest" now ;-)"

We spent a week in Port Douglas as part of our Nth Queensland Honeymoon in early April 2006... we arrived just after Cyclone Larry but fortunately there was very little damage in the places we visited. It did however rain for 10 of our 14 days in the area :-( Consequently there are more eating out tips than bushwalking tips than I usually have in my pages.

We had a fantastic time and would love to go back!

A: "We have done both and and would suggest you do the Rail & Skyrail. These are not so dependent on the weather and are fantastic adventures. In the March is still iffy as..."
