Port Douglas in late November
by snitten
I´m turning 30 in November and want to go somewhere really nice. How´s the weather there then and is it a ghost town at that time?

No Port isn't a ghost town in November, it will start to quiten down after Christmas.
There will still be people there, at the pubs, clubs etc.All things will be open and running, trips to the reef etc go everyday of the year, unless the weather is really bad!!
The weather is getting hot and more humid as the weeks go by. 31C today with 65% humidity. Bloody perfect:)
So come November it will be still hot and more humid. You could get a bit of rain, but remember it doesn't get cold here when it rains:)
The only thing that is a no no at this time of year is swimming at the beaches, unless you swim within the netted area. As it is stinger season. BUT that isn't really a problem as you can top up your tan at the swimming pool where you stay. Most, if not all, accommodation places have pools.
Check out wotif.com.au for some good bargains on acccommondation. Like everywhere, the season has been up and down here and accommodation places are having some good deals. If you book at a travel agent, ( I wouldn't) make sure you get a really good deal.
Happy 30th Birthday...for November:)

Here is a street that has Bakery, cafe's and take away.
Through the main Street and side streets of Port you have a great selection of different foods. I enjoy the Pastries at the Bakery. The others offer great breakfast and take away.
There is various price ranges...Starting at $2.50 Aus to $14.00Aus for Breakfast and Coffee
Fishing in and around Port Douglas.
by kid-keith
Fishing here in Port Douglas is good and has some good different spieces too, in which you can use one of the local fishing charters go out and do some deep sea fishing for Snapper etc.... or go up into the mangroves after Barracuda and Mangrove Jack.
Or the other option is too use your own gear like me and go of the small jetty and in around the Marina.
i used both lures and baits and found that baits were the best catching stingrays,Queenfish and plenty of other sorts of fish, a great way to spend your sunny days in Port Douglas watching all the diving boats go out.
Four Mile Beach

Take a relaxing stroll along the gorgeous Four Mile Beach where you will see palm trees and coconuts. The beach is a stunning tropical looking beach rather than your tacky tourist filled beach. The beach was just a 5 minute walk from our hotel on Davidson Street.

"Port Douglas."
Well, after the long drive from Broome with stops in Fitzroy Croosing,Kununurra,Katherine,Three ways road house and Mt.Isa we finally arrived in Port Douglas, why Port Douglas you ask ,well we were meeting up with some friends here and also with it`s sunshine, and the Barrier Reef on it`s doorstep why not and also with so much tourism here the chances of work were pretty high as well as funds were getting low.
Just driving to Port Douglas from Cairns was something a bit speical, the drive along the coast line up and down the mountains is mind blowing as you look out over the Coral Sea.
Now arrived in Port Douglas and found the Pandanus camping and caravan park in which we were staying, we met our friends and had a look round. Port Douglas is beautiful it has so much here from lovely beaches, loads and loads of nice places to eat and drink and the Great Barrier Reef is just a stones throw away.
So you can understand why i found a job here(working for the same car rental company i did in Broome) and stayed for 3months, doing plenty of fishing and drinking as the rugby world cup got started.
