Mission Beach
"One night was enough!!"
Maybe we didn't give this town a chance... but we didn't think too much of it at all.
We arrived around 7.30pm, and hoped to find a nice campsite to pitch for the night. We were only able to find the Big4... The reception was closed, and there was no bell to ring for late arrivals, so we had a quick look around the site, where we were greeted by an extremely impolite security man. He 'allowed' us to stay the night, but not before making us feel like we were committing some crime by checking in at 8pm.
We quickly pitched up tent, made food (you had to pay for the gas in the kitchen!), and sat in the TV room. We settled in front of some show, and half way through, the TV cut off. Apparently it's turned off at 10pm. Just great. So that was it!!
We were up early the next morning to check out, where we told the bill was $29.... even though the brochure says $19-24... still, a little steep for a non-powered tent site for 13 hours. We weren't impressed. But hey.
So we went into town... and realised it was just dead!! So pretty much that was our trip. We had a little wander to the beach, but that was it, and that was about all there was to do. Maybe the place is better in the summer??
Maybe, as i said, we didn't give it much of a chance... but we'd experienced it enough and continued on down the coast......
