There is a public/backpacker restaurant and 2 storey terrace/bar at the front of the building, another backpacker bar behind that with big screen tv.
Through gate at the back is Backpacker area. Kitchen and dining room is a rather large building and well equipped. Tv room next door, an Internet alcove and tv opposite the reception counter, and the reception staff were very friendly, and best of all, efficient and organised. Highly recommended.

Unique Quality: Here at Mission Beach, we had the best and cheapest own room of our whole holiday stay.
We asked for a basic twin room but they hadn't one left so upgraded us to one with ensuite for only $37 double!
That included 2 free beer or soft drink drinks between us at the Hostel bar!
This backpackers also had the most attractive layout - larger than usual and rather deep resort pool in centre of courtyard, with nice yellow accom buildings clustered around it in square shape, each building with own verandah and chairs or couch outside.
Room also more attractive than most backpackers - almost homely - brightly painted walls, curtains, even 1 picture on wall.
Long distance buses also pick up and drop off at this hostel (which is a little hard to find, but we were searching in the dark and got there once we had a more detailed map)
