Explore the waterways and residential areas
Although most people will go for the beach, shopping, movie world, sea world etc etc, you should spend some time exploring the beautiful network of waterways and riverside residential areas.
I spent only one afternoon in Surfers Paradise. I drove down from Brisbane for the day and spent it lying on the beach and playing in the ocean. The waves here are great, and so is the beach, although very crowded. Surfers is not as laid back as Byron Bay is, but I have to say I enjoyed the ocean here much more, because at Byron there was lots of seaweed floating around, and here the water was crystal clear.
