We decided to join relatives visiting from NSW at Tangalooma for two days in August 2011. We had a great time. The adventure started at the wharf at Pinkenba. Cecil, the 2 meter python who lives under the wharf decided to sun himself just where passengers would be walking to get on the boat. It was great to see the staff expertly tickling this fine animal and getting him back into his slot under the structure.
Staff on the 1 hour trip were friendly and helpful and we found this was true of all the resort staff. Our accommodation was excellent. There is plenty to do at Tangalooma, especially for younger children, but it is relaxing for those who just want to laze around. It was amazing to think we were only one hour from Brisbane.
We did a splendid 4wd tour of the northern part of Moreton Island. It was our guide Bruce’s second trip and he was just great. From the lighthouse we were able to see whales on display, even mothers with calves. And feeding the dolphins was a memorable experience, too.
We enjoyed it so much we are planning to go back with our grand children.
There were two negatives; food was a little below the standard expected (though restaurant staff were very good) and prices for wine and beer are far too high.
