Nude Beaches

by Marsketa

I'm heading up North this September/ October on a holiday. I am a naturist and was wondering if you know of any nude beaches in the Townsville area?
I heard there might be one on Magnetic Island.

Google comes up with amazing stuff. Try cheef.com/nudist news. But I think you might be disappointed - maybe topless but ???....L.

Hi Marsketa. I was on Magnetic Island a few years ago, and most beaches then seemed to be "anything goes" as long as you respect others. It's a beautiful spot and well suited to nude swimming. Hire a moke and scoot around the island. Try this site:

cheers

Hi Marsketa,

There is possibly the most beautiful little beach you'll ever visit on Magnetic Island and it is a nude (Unofficial) beach! You have to go to Balding Bay! It is ~45mins walk from Horseshoe Bay and generally half the beach is for 'clothing optional' beachgoers. There has always been others with no gear on when i go there. Anyway...enjoy!

Travel Tips for Townsville

You can really relax here...

by Sweetberry1

A leisurely walk along The Strand in Townsville, is a wonderful way to see a good part of the foreshore. There are many cafe's, bistros, resturants, bars and hotels along the way.
There are also parks, playgrounds for children, and a wonderful bike track, for those who like to ride. And if you are into keeping fit, they have 'sit ups' benches all along the foreshore.

Magnetic Island

by lou31

Just out from Townsville is lovely Magnetic Island. It is very popular and easy to get to. There are boats that go back and forth and if you like you can take your car over on the barge.
There a half a dozen beaches on the island. Lots of accomodation, restaurants and activities.
Nice for a day trip or a longer stay.

Billabong Sanctuary

by stevezero

Billabong Sanctuary is one of the best in Australia and is situated 17kms from Townsville. If you don't have your own car, then a bus can pick you up and take you there.

The Sanctuary has 3 habitats of rainforest, eucalypt forest and wetlands all in the one easy location, which can be experienced in either a half day or a full day visit. The native animals are displayed in their own environments in natural surroundings, the experience is like that of walking through the Australian bush.

Combined ticket, inc. transfer from hotel, entry A$34.00

my best friend has recently moved here, and i went for 3 weeks to check out the place and spend some time with her.

i think i saw the most of townsville within the first 3 days... the rest was just spending more time enjoying the places, and meeting lots of interesting townsville people.

if you go there be prepared to spend most of your time in a swimming pool, or near air conditioning!

i went clubbing when i was there.... its pretty good as everything is within walking distance.... even after a few drinks!
there's a club called the Mad Cow Tavern, its pretty good... (I LOVE COWS!!!)

Townsville to me has a very COUNTRY feel, but in the tropics next to a beach.

i dont think i could live here.... too hot, i would be very tempted to do nothing! hehehe

this hill is like right in the middle of townsville. there is a graffitied saint on the side of the hill...
apparently each time someone cleans it off, someone else paints it again within 24 hours.
i think its kinda cute :)

errrrrr
we spent all night fishing....
my friend managed to catch a baby fish by its bum....
and i managed to catch this baby mud crap. on the way home we stopped at the shop and got some fish fingers :)
