GLENDON CAMPING GROUNDS: TRAIL BIKE RIDING & BUSH CAMPING
The Glendon Camping Grounds are located 38Kms west of Warwick, off the road that leads to Goondiwindi, via Inglewood.
As you drive along the bitumised road, look for the sign pointing to the Campgrounds. This will lead you along a rough dirt road in amongst the bush to a large lawned area where the campground is. On arrival, if the Kiosk is shut, head to the Homestead [painted white and with a red roof] to book in.
Powered sites are available, but a much larger area for bush camping [unpowered] is available.
Our spot was beside Thanes Creek which runs through the 1600 Acre property. As a storm had dropped rain here a few nights earlier, the creek was running well, evidently, this is not the norm.
This was a lovely place to camp, quiet, by the creek and the large lawned area, plus it had an open fireplace like all the other sites. We made use of this every night, first using it for cooking with the Camp Oven and then enjoying the yummy Damper, then for sitting around the fire for an evening under the stars.
The Park is mainly for Trail Bike riders. There is a course for Juniors and one for Adults. There are lots of 4WD tracks. You will need a 4WD as the roads are very rough, even the one leading to the large Dam which is stocked with Fish and was good for swimming in. Other activities are a 9 hole Golf course, and Gold Panning, you can hire or buy, or bring your own.
Kangaroo's were around in the evenings.
The on-site accommodation looked awful, I certainly couldn't recommend that on looks.
As for the Amenities Block, the Toilets were clean but the showers were filthy, it there was somewhere else to shower, I would have gone there. Definitely leave your flip-flops [thongs] on.
We had a good time here as we were in a group. We wouldn't return here again though.

ROSE CITY CARAVAN PARK: SMALL TIDY PARK
This is a small family owned and operated park that was very tidy. All lawn, nice shrubs, bbq area, small clean amenties block, cabins, powered and unpowered sites. I like the small parks and this one was good, that is unless you are a light sleeper, then the semi-trailers travelling along the New England Highway will keep you awake.
It is located on the outskirts of Warwick, on the edge of the highway. The park itself was quiet, it was the traffic that wasn't.

WASHPOOL CAMPGROUND: At the end of the road
Lake Leslie actually has two camping areas.
If you continue to the end of the road, there is another Campground. We went and had a look at it. It is located right on the water's edge, and if you are after wildlife, there were plenty of Kangaroo's and Bird's here too.
Washpool Camping Reserve is privately run and camping fees apply.
It is bush camping with all the facilities of a caravan park, which include toilets, picnic tables and shelter sheds, barbecues with wood provided and running water. The amenities block includes hot showers. There is also a public telephone.
Only a limited number of powered sites for caravans.

LAKE LESLIE TOURIST PARK: By the Lake and near the wildlife
Want to get to the peace & quiet, well that is what we wanted, so we headed to the Lake Leslie Camping Ground.
The Lake Leslie Tourist Park overlooks Leslie Dam, and is only 12 kilometres from Warwick. We didn't go fishing, but evidently the freshwater fishing is excellent, and there are fishing clubs located near the Caravan Park.
From the Caravan Park, if you have a Boat, you have boat ramp close by.
Boats, kayak or bicycles can be hired.
As we were in our own Caravan, we had a powered site, which for two people cost $15 a night.
The Shower & Toilet amenites were very clean, and outside in the Laundry area, a fairly new Washing Machine was in use. There were enough clothes lines for washing.
A solar heated swimming pool, and a Basketball ring would keep the children happy!
There isn't any lawn, we are out in the bush here, so did not expect it! You have to be careful with water usage too, as they are not on mains water.
Take a walk, and over the back fence are plenty of Kangaroo's. A walk in the other direction, and across the road is Lake Leslie. Some Pelican's were on the water, plenty of Parrot's squawking as I was on an early morning walk.
For those people who do not have a Caravan or Tent, there are Cabins, reasonably priced. These were full of Backpackers that were working somewhere nearby.
Nice location, very cheap and good, we will return!
