More about Adelaide Hilton
Standard Hilton
by TripAdvisor Member mosquita
The Hilton Adelaide is what you'd expect from a Hilton. Pretty spacious rooms, standard business class lay-out. The big plusses are the great location, friendly staff and good views.
The big minuses are super-thin walls. I was unfortunately kept up all night by a neighbor watching the Simpsons. Homer at 2 am is not funny! The staff didn't bat an eyelid when I mentioned it upon check-out. But I guess one can be unfortunate. Overall, I'd say it's a safe bet.
Great hotel definetly going back

Stayed at the Hilton Adelaide as part of a tour of Australia,
Check-in at the hotel was very quick and efficient.
We booked a Queen executive room, which was situated on the top floor at the front of the hotel, room was clean and tidy.
Bufftet Breakfast was included in the price and we had breakfast in the executive lounge on the 17th floor.
We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant on 2 occasions and enjoyed the food immensly, waitresses were very efficient.
The lounge bar on the ground floor was also good again with very efficient staff.
I thougt the hotel was ideally placed, trams for Glenelg stop almost outisde, its only a short walk to Rundle street mall, the Central market is just behind the hotel and Gouger street (cafes & restaurants) is also close by.
When we return to Adelaide we will definetly be staying at the Hilton.
Not a 5 star hotel compared to other 5 stars.. but for Adelaide its the closest

When driving into the city from the Airport, it is easy to spot the Hilton as it is the tallest building in the city. Upon checkin the staff was rather abrupt and had trouble suggesting restaurants. We had a king sized bed in our room which was comfortable. There was a sofa, chair and a plasma t.v. The furniture needed to be updated. The bathroom was okay. We had a great view of the city and could see the ocean. We were within walking distance to the great restaurants, the casino, the marketplace (which is a must see!). The casino does not allow flipflops. Pasta Palace has excellent Italian food. We were there during the Antique Car Rally which was pretty cool to see. A lot of the racers were staying at the Hilton while we were there. We took the tram to the beach which takes about 15 mins. The tram starts in the square across from the Hilton and stops at the beach which was convenient and inexpensive. There are cute beachy/touristy shops near the beach as well as a starbucks an other places to eat. There is a bar in Adelaide called the End of the World, which you feel like when there. Chinatown and the Marketplace (next to each other) are must sees for the food enthusiasts. In November the days were comfortable and the nights were chilly, so be sure to pack some warmer clothing.
Adelaide finest dining experience!

After reading some to the latest reviews we arrived at the Hilton with some trepidation. Our check in was fast and correct and our room (an executive deluxe) had been updated recently but was just a very average 5 star room.
We dined at The Grange, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Though reasonably expensive, it was worth every cent.
Service at the Lobby bar on a busy Saturday night (although it seemed to be busy most to the time) was very very slow, they where extremely understaffed.
Concierge desk were extremely helpful in planning a day trip to McClaren Vale winery area!
We would stay there again as it suited our needs, might try to get a better room next time though.

I've stayed at this hotel 5 or 6 times over the last few months. It's not bad, although all but one of the rooms I have stayed in were a bit tired looking. The hotel has been open for 25 years now & some of the rooms look & feel it.
On one occasion it was really noisy as they are doing some refurb works. At least this time I was given a letter warning me of it as I checked -in. Last time there was heavy driilng noises directly above me.
The reception staff aren't that friendly, twice they have stuffed up my reservations & on one visit said they would call me to advise me when I could check-in as no rooms were ready but failed to do so.
It's also always busy with large groups; on EVERY stay there has either been football teams, political groups or sales forum events on & many of the people stay at the hotel. Unless you are attending as part of one of the groups you are made to feel a bit superfluous and unimportant. Probably good though if you are into AFL?!
It's not a bad place, it's just nothing special. It's located near the courts and the market.
in desperate need of a refurbishment.. 70's style

Had stayed at this hotel for a work confrence then a couple of us extended our stay to see the sights.
The room was clean had 2 single beds. The aircon must not have been working each morning we woke up sweating (in the middle of winter!) . The bathroom was clean but hadn't been touched since the 70's (thats what it looked like!).
We had breakfast included with the 2 nights the company arranged was quite a good selection but don't touch the scrambled eggs 4 people including myself got quite sick. As i was not feeling well and couldn't attend the end of our confrence i was stuck in bed, within about half an hour the fire alarm was going off ( just testing) then i could hear some kind of drilling noise from 2 floors above which went on for the entire time.
We were on a non-smoking floor ( didn't know they even had smoking floors in Aus anymore!) but when we got out of the lift it reaked of smoke and later on that night it was a really strong smell of pot! not what i call non-smoking. People were also smoking in the lobby (weird these days!).
Location was good only 2 mins to the tram station which can take you straight to the Bay where nice shops and cafe's are.
3 star property at best.

Upon arrival, the doorman was quick to response to my car arriving and even though i said i didn't require any assistance with my luggage, he gladly helped anyway.
Checking in was a very pleasant experience. I have made a request on the telephone when i made my booking that i will arrive sometime before the check-in time and requested for my room to be ready by then. Even though it wasn't, Jessica, the front office agent was very pleasant and professional. She assured me that she will get a room ready for me in an hour or so and true enough, did just that. She called my mobile to inform me that is was ready and already brought my luggage up to the room prior to calling me. She presented the signature Aussie friendliness while retaining professionalism, Thank You!
Housekeeping was fine, Miki did a good job. Thank You!
However the pleasantries ended there ....
When i approached the restaurant to have a full breakfast, was told it will only be ready at 10:30am (which i did not understand why). I did not bother to return because by then my room was ready.
Old old old. While there are many hotels around the world who are charms its patrons with its nostalgia, this Hilton property is simply naught.
The bed is so old it is sunken in the middle. The water pressure in the bath was pathetic and the air vent next to the bathtub chocked with dust. The bathtub was also too shallow with no proper resting area for the head and neck to do so comfortably.
There were stains all over the room's ceilings and carpet. Only upon checking out did i discover the hair dryer was located in a drawer below the luggage deck. (why not in the bath?) The fire escape instructions were located in the drawer next to it. (Why not in a visible spot like behind the room door?)
Profanities were scribbled in my room service menu. The television is definitely from the late 1980s, and the airconditioner likewise; with an audible droning noise throughout the night.
Luckily i tested the iron before using it because it spat black sandy particles out of the steam vents! I was about to iron a white shirt which i decided to forget about it.
There is also nothing to rave about it swimming pool, gym and lobby for a Hilton property.
The concierge when approached with a request did not seem helpful enough to go out of the way to assist my need. Definitely no the case in other properties.
This is definitely nothing more than a 3 star property. Even though they claim to have refurb some of their rooms, a hotel's brand is not about those better rooms/facilities in "some parts of the hotel" but the overall feel and experience.
