SA climate - Adelaide
by dmirebella
SA boast 4 seasons. There is more rainfall during autumn and heading towards winter. Do note that it gets dryer away from Adelaide proper so the more inland it gets, so does the weather.
There are green areas around the Murray River where fruit trees are cultivated and of course at the hills where the wineries are situated - in short SA boast a very diverse landscape, not just a dry one. .
Botanic Park
by hennanights
The Botanic Park is a 34 hectare (84 acre) park in the Northeast Parkland's of the South Australian capital of Adelaide. Its nestled between the zoo and the botanical gardens making it a perfect spot to picnic, read or lie in the sun. Its very quite and has a abundant bird life. The park popularity is due mostly to its giant fig trees. Their twisted roots have grown high above the ground. Children love to climb them.
There is parking along the access road and toilets just inside the botanical garden entrance. Playing hide and seek in the giant tree roots.
...and if you know your history

Those who don't know the sport of Cricket may know little about "Bodyline", the notorious bowling tactics used by the English Tourists to beat Australia in the 1932-33 season. Even now people remember and reflect on the controversy. At the heart of it was the England captain Douglas Jardine, whose unbending will helped him persist with the tactic against all criticism. It was at Adelaide that matters came to a head when a couple of Australians were injured, and a riot nearly ensued. For a time the tour was in danger of cancellation and the friendly relations between Australia and Britain were under threat.
Thus as an English visitor it was important to be diplomatic and apolagetic about it all - as the pin-up girls holding my flag show. Bring something tactfully commemorative to demonstrate what any truly sporting Englishman feels about his national captain using such rough tactics on those nice Australians.
I guess this isn't quite off...

I guess this isn't quite off the beaten path, but almost.
The Chain of Ponds is situated in the Adelaide Hills
region. I haven't been there myself, but I am told it is a beautiful vinyard area, with a real 'Tuscany' feel about it.
You will find a Map of the region in my Travelogue.
I think it is a great idea, when we are travelling to new places, to always visit the 'Tourist Information Center' They will always have 'Up to Date' information, and some even have Booking Facilities.
Heaven/Newmarket
by Diceman_ about Heaven/Newmarket
Heaven features DJ's from home and abroad, Newmarket Hotel is a regular nightclub, perhaps slightly more upper class than other night clubs (they can have some very picky bouncers at the door). Go here if you want an easy to find, solid venue, if you're lucky an act you like might be on next door in Heaven. No shorts or open-top shoes
