Fine Place to Stay in Adelaide

by lopaki421 about Majestic Roof Garden Hotel

Fine accomodations. Good beds, very quiet and nicely appointed. Excellent location - easy walk to Rundle Mall shops/restaurants and 1 block to the free bus that circles the main business area. Decor is very "moderne", warm and tasteful. Prices were very inexpensive for the quality when I stayed there (Feb.05).

Nice, but not Majestic

by TripAdvisor Member Merman101

We stayed at the Majestic Roof Garden Hotel for 3 nights in September on business. It is in a good location for the main shopping area, park and University.

The hotel was clean and modern. Our room was small but comfortable. The bathroom was stylish, but not very practical.

The communal facilities were basic - just a couple of sofa's in the foyer. We didn't get to try the restaurant - there are so many lovely bars and cafes around. We had a quick look at the 'gym' and roof terrace, but weren't tempted back.

The staff that dealt with us were efficient but not particularly friendly or helpful. It felt more like a trendy Travelodge rather than a luxurious 4.5 star hotel, but coming from the UK was still pretty good value for money.

A good quality business/tourist hotel

by TripAdvisor Member jimthetraveller

My wife and I stayed here recently for one night and found it a perfectly pleasant, good quality hotel.

Checkin was smooth and friendly, The room was a decent size, comfortable, modern and clean. The bathroom was new as well.
The roof garden itself offered excellent views of the city and the hills. The location is excellent and it very easy to walk to the nearby shops, resturants, museum, botanical garden etc.

No problems at all.

Minor issues. No shelf in Bathroom for all our various toiletries. Water leaks from shower onto bathroom floor. But these are minor and shouldn't put you off.

I found Adelaide itself to be a very charming city and we regretted having to leave after one day/night. We will visit again and use this hotel.

A Great Hotel!

by TripAdvisor Member Robyroy

My wife and I stayed at the Majestic Roof Garden for three nights in early October and found it to be excellent.

The hotel is modern, clean and well positioned. The room was spacious, the bathroom well appointed and the staff helpful and attentive. Checking in after our early morning arrival was no problem and in overall terms, we really enjoyed our stay. It also represented excellent value for money.

We would have loved to spend an evening on the roof terrace with a bottle of wine looking over the city, but sadly we did not have the time!

If we return to Adelaide, we will be back.

Great location, friendly hotel

by TripAdvisor Member chevhill

Just spent 3 nights at The Majestic Roof Garden and had a great time. The room was spacious and very clean with every convenience. The king size bed was the most comfortable hotel bed we've ever slept on! Bathroom was lovely with plenty of towels.
Location was great, with fab restaurants, cafes and pubs all close by, as were the shops.
Only hiccup of the stay was the IDIOT in the next room (and his friends) playing guitar and singing at 4 am. Maybe it wouldn't have been so bad if they could remember the lyrics and they could sing in tune. I rang reception and this was sorted immediately.
All staff were really friendly and we couldn't really fault anything about the place.
Would definitely recommend this hotel to others and we hope to stay there again.

perfect for us!

by TripAdvisor Member TracyTraveler

Stayed here for one night before and another night after a trip to Kangaroo Island. We got a great last-minute rate on Wotif for a deluxe room, and really enjoyed it. The bathrooms were clean and spacious, the room was comfortable, and the staff were nice (and very young!). They had no trouble storing our luggage for us while we were away.

The location is great, with lots of restaurants just steps away on the pedestrian shopping street. As others have said, the rooftop garden is small, but would have been a nice place to sit on a warmer day than we had. We wished we could have stayed longer!

Stuck in the Middle

by TripAdvisor Member Andy_Easom

Stayed for eight nights mainly for the Test Cricket nearby.
Bout a half hour walk to the ground for reference.
The room itself was great apart from the view.Small window looked out on the multi storey car park opposite.Beyond there you got a distant view of the surrounding hills.
Fantastic king size bed..Possibly the best shower ever come across.
The Roof Top Garden was ok i suppose if a little narrow all the way around.Whilst we were there the management missed a money spinning opportunity of throwing an Ashes Event for its cricket following guests.Perhaps a BBQ or something organised in one of the function rooms next to the roof would have kept us in the hotel one evening. As it was the bar area on the ground floor is really small and narrow and doesn't really invite you to spend any length of time in the hotel of an evening.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Another glaring omission to the hotels amenities is a pool.
On arrival it would have been great to have a dip.
As far as location goes it is superb. All the bars and restaurants of Rundle Street are only a few yards away.
British folk try The Elephant,The Stag and PJs.
I Love Adelaide and would love to live there.

Piece of magic in central Adelaide

by TripAdvisor Member hollc

My wife & I stayed at the Majestic Rooftop for 2 nights whilst in Adelaide for a wedding as well as catching the first day of the cricket test.
We were very impressed with the rooms, spacious and modern. As others have said about the king bed, it was the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in. The bathrooms were nice & modern with a great shower.
The hotel staff were nice & friendly and the valet parking not too expensive.
We didn't use any of the hotel facilities as those on the ground floor always seemed to be busy as they were pretty small.
The location was great. The eateries of Rundle Street were only around the corner with the mall and major shopping hub only a five minute walk away. Also only a 20 walk to the cricket ground was a bonus.
Overall, we were very impressed with the whole set up and strong recommend this place if you are looking to stay ion central Adelaide.

A wonderful place to be

by TripAdvisor Member francesanne

The Majestic Roof Garden is superb, the rooms are wonderful, king size bed, flat screen tv, every modern convenience and wonderful bathroom, really thick towels. Staff really helpful and friendly. Superb position right near all the best restaurants and the Mall, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

A great little hotel

by TripAdvisor Member MKPA

Good to see that Mr. Cameron has responded to the very negative review earlier this year, bed bugs etc.

We found the hotel to be very well located and our room was clean and well appointed. The bathroom was lovely. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Later during our trip we stayed at the Hilton which is much more expensive and, all in all, we preferred the Roof Garden.

Ask for a room with an opening window onto a balcony.
