Rosella Parrots
by hennanights
Australia has 54 species of parrots. The Eastern Rosella parrots are found throughout South Australia. They travel in small groups. Its is not known whether the birds are native to the area or whether they have appeared through release. Quite often they are spotted while noisily, with a loud chirps, fly from tree to tree but every now and then you will spot them on the ground foraging for seeds. They supplement their diet with fruit stolen from backyard orchards. The birds are quite playful and you can often hear them chirping to each other. Males have longer bills than females.
The elegance of glass
by hennanights
Victorian "Palm House" was built in 1868. The glass was in a very bad way when I was a kid. It had several broken glass panes and just looked unloved. In 1995 it was restored back to its former beauty. It is very elegant in its design and looks like something from 1001 nights. However it was fashioned after an original designed house in Germany. It is considered the finest Victorian glasshouse in Australia. It is also the oldest glass house in a botanical garden. The house is located to the west of the main lake. It houses a rare collection of exotic Madagascan plants. Today though its role has become redundant with the completion of the Bicentennial Conservatory.

Camel Rides on Glenelg Beach
by Kate-Me
I don't know what months of the year this activity runs (probably mainly summer) but it was still running when we were in Glenelg in April. Just $10 for a ride on one of two camels (evidently this is really cheap compared to camel riding in Broome where it's $40, for example)
I just thought the camels were rather cute and was more interested in photographing them than having a ride.

You can walk up it, taking in the breathtaking panoramic views.
The Synagogue
by SinKitty about The Synagogue
This place actually used to be a synogogue, and someone converted it into a dance club. (Seems somewhat sacreligios if ya ask me). I had a blast there and got plenty wasted (as usual). The DJ was phenomenal and the drinks were great. whatever.
