Hi Nitin,

You might like to stay in the beach resort of Glenelg. This is where I stayed when I visited Adelaide last year.

I can recommend the Glenelg Beach Hostel (http://www.glenelgbeachhostel.com.au/) as a good value place to stay.

The historic tram runs from Glenelg to the centre of Adelaide every few minutes throughout the day. The journey is between 20 and 30 minutes. Trams depart from Moseley Square, which is just a 2 minute walk from the Glenelg Beach Hostel.

Good luck!

Jonathan

Hi Nitin,

You sound like you have a tight budget. Why not try university accommodation? Most unis have some flats or student rooms for rent throughout the semester. Try University of Adelaide, and Flinders University and University of South Australia. USA and UOA are in Adelaide city while Flinders is just out of town a bit. Ring the accommodation dept and ask if they have short term accommodation. Hoep that helps.

Sunscreen & insect repellent in summer!!!!

by Becfromoz

Summer days are very hot & humid, and it doesn't cool down at night time either. On average the temperature drops to minimum of 30 degrees during the night from December to March so wear light cotton pyjamas for a comfortable nights sleep.

Winter time does get cold, on average 20 degrees . . . and yes we do have rain so bring your umbrella! Australia is famous for its long, hot and dry summer! Make sure you wear plenty of sunscreen if you are visiting from November to March, or trust me you will suffer and burn and it will ruin your holiday! The hot weather also attracts mosquitos, bugs and spiders! Make sure you wear 'Aeroguard' insect repellent - that will keep the pests away!!

Westfield Marion

by AUE

Westfield Marion is a HUUUUGE shopping complex. When it was rebuilt they included a 30!!! cinema complex too. That makes it the largest single-built cinema complex in the world. If that is still the case today I don't know; but you don't find somehing like that in many cities (let a lone in cities with a population of around 1mil. :)

Haigh's Chocolates

by kelyeah about Haigh's Chocolates

This shop sells the best thing ever CHOCOLATE!! Haha.
Ask any South Australian chick which chocolate they would like and they will most likely say Haigh's.

There are three stores in the city located at:
* 2 Rundle Mall , Adelaide
* Shop 21, Da Costa Arcade, Grenfell Street (Corner Gawler Place), Adelaide
* Shop 17, Central Market Arcade, Victoria Square, Adelaide

Plus three other stores outside of the city at:
* 154 Greenhill Road, Parkside
* 87b Jetty Road, Glenelg
* Shop 24, Golden Grove Village Shopping Centre, Golden Way, Golden Grove

The shop at Parkside is also the Haigh's Chocolates Visitors Center and if you're craving chocolate, you need settle only for the best at the iconic Haigh's Chocolates Visitors Centre. Dedicated to fine chocolate production, Haigh's takes you through the lifecycle of chocolate. Mouth-watering samples are included and bookings for the tour are essential. Apricot Balls
Orange Drops
Chocolate Sprinkles
GIANT frogs (you'll know what I mean when you see it!) Around $7 - $10 per bag.
