Glenelg Seaway Apartments: Cheap apartment

The apartment was a bit old, but nice, with three rooms, a bathroom and our own kitchen. And for this we paid only AUD 66 / night! The cold weather might be the reason why we got it that cheap, Glenelg was not exactly swarming with tourists. In addition to staying cheap we saved money by doing our own cooking, and there was a laundry machine in an outhouse in the back yard.

The location of the apartment is super, it is only two blocks away from everything: Moseley Square / tram end stop, the jetty, the beach and Jetty Road with it's shops, cafes and reataurants.

The Oaks Pier Plaza ( formerly The Ramada ): Everything you want and more..

The Oaks is set on Absolute beachfront. You have a choice of Park View or Ocean View. The rooms are complete with Kitchen facilities, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer, microwave oven, hair dryers and roomsafe. Internet , playstation, movies on request are available at a flick of a switch and of course are an additional charge. The rooms each have a decent sized balcony with table and chairs. They have studio rooms, 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. They are modern, clean and quite roomy. Our first night was in a Park View room as we could not get all our nights in an ocean view room. We found this to be a bit smaller than the ocean view and were glad that we had more room in the ocean view room as of course most of the family came to visit. The complex also has restaurants and cafe's down stairs, a bar, pokies and night club. The staff were friendly and helpful. Although the rack rate was $360 per night we managed to get the park view for $170 per night and the Ocean view for $190 /night. They also waived the $20 /night fee for aroll away bed for our son. We learnt it never hurts to ask for their absolute best price and then charm them into chucking in a few extras.

The complex also has a heated indoor pool, plunge pool for those brave enough to test the freezing water, a steam room, sauna and spa as well as a pretty good gymnasium. Security is pretty high on the agenda there too and your room card is necessary to move around the building. It will only allow you access to your specific floor and the 2nd floor where the pool etc are located.
