Cradle Mountain Highlander cabins: - amazing
Choice of accommodation can really make or break a stay. In the case of Cradle Mountain Highlander cabins, the choice we made was amazing and I thoroughly recommend the establishment. We stayed in a small 2 room cabin for 2 called Woodsmoke. There could be so much I could write about Woodsmoke, but in the end and after a lot of thought it would be just one word – WOW.
The properties own web site states “Rustic Self Contained Cabin Accommodation minutes from Cradle Mountain National Park” and I wish they’d put one word in the front of that sentence - LUXURY.
The cabin really did have all that was needed and more for a great place to stay.
Covered porch with rustic wooden bench seat.
Enclosed entrance way with 2 boxes of ready to use firewood and plenty of space to hang wet outside gear.
Room 1 is a compact fully equipped kitchen combined lounge with an eating alcove with a window overlooking the bush, where we did see wallabies searching for food. Two additional windows gave great bush views. Taking pride of place is a slow combustion real wood heater that REALLY pumps out heat. Matches, firelighters, kindling all ready for use in the wicker basket beside heater - the management really have thought of everything.
Room 2 is the bedroom with a 4 poster bed, 2 bedside tables, cupboard, TV on a bench, place for suitcases and large window overlooking the bush.
Finally a fully equipped bathroom with shower over bath and all the necessary add-ons, including a heater that worked very well (too hot for me but Lady Gaw made noises of appreciation).
The property does not have a on-site restaurant, but there is a few choices in the spread out ‘village.’ Property is within easy walking distance to the visitor centre and the bus station.
Strongly suggest purchasing breakfast and other catering in towns approaching Cradle Mountain. All cabins are supplied with linen, towels, tea, coffee and milk and are serviced daily.

Lake St. Clair wilderness resort.: Wildlife at this campground
We stayed here with our caravan. The park was very basic, but the price was cheap. It didn't matter, as we right on the lake front, with wildlife around us morning & night. We saw Potaroos, Pademelons, Echidna and Green Rosella. It was so peaceful, restful (thats what we came for) it was just lovely. There are cabins if you don't have your own accommodation.

Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village: Self-contained chalet ideal for group travel
I went to the Cradle Mountain twice during 1.5 years. First time when i went with my uni friends, we stayed over at the Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village. It was my first time staying at a self-contained accomodation. It was very cosy and i found it ideal for group and family travel where we can have our individual room but shared lounge and kitchen area for gathering and cooking.
There was also a small verandah attached to the chalet we stayed in. However as it was winter, we did not spend much time at the verandah.
I can't remember how much i paid for the accomodation. However a quick check at the website, a 2 bedroom chalet cost around AUD480 per night.
You can park your car outside the house on gravel grounds.

CRADLE MOUNTAIN LODGE: Cradle Mountain Lodge: Unforgettable Experience!
The epitome of comfort. Nothing like a warm fireplace to warm the body and soul on a cold night in the highlands of Taz. The cabins are lovely, comfortable and luxurious. Yes, it's a big hotel, no pretence about it. But you will get exactly what a big hotel will offer. Worthwhile to spoil yourself for a night or two.
The location where nature really comes close. Possums come down to feed at night and may even scratch your door begging for food! (Please do not feed them) Wild wallabies and wombats could be found sleeping just outside your door. The night sky is breath-taking; let the Milky Way sweeps you away.
