Travel Tips for Devonport

N/WEST TASSIE near DELORAINE - LIFFEY FALLS

by balhannah

For us, these were the most beautiful waterfalls that we saw in Tasmania, and there are heaps there.
The falls are made up of 4 distinctive cascades, just take the 45-minute walk starting from the picnic ground, heading down hill to the viewing platforms and stunning Liffey Falls.

Crystal clear water, outstanding rainforest, beautiful falls, an easy well maintained walking track, what more could you ask for? Tree ferns, the rainforest, it all was stunning here!!

Also in the park, is a large browntop stringybark gumtree, height 50mtrs, diameter, 3.39m, there is a boardwalk all the way around it. Stand beside it, and then you will get to understand the dimensions of this great Tree!

Liffey's falls and forests have received World Heritage listing for their unique natural values

They are Located 29kms from Deloraine.

DEVENPORT N.W.TASMANIA..

"THE SEA GATEWAY.. TO THE APPLE ISLE OF TASMANIA.."

Devenport is usually the first part of Tasmania that visitors arriving by Ferry from Melbourne get to see..Unfortuneatley now the ferry from Sydney no longer does the trip..A really good drive on drive off ferry that has all forms of accomodation.I just took a sleep seat...Devenport sees "The Spirit of Tasmania"arrive and depart three times weekly..The ferry carries a huge amount of fresh produce for the mainland that is grown here..Many visitors use Devenport as a base to visit many of the local towns ..Cradle Mountain..Burnie ,Stanley (the nut) ,Penguin and beautiful Boat Harbour are easily day trips from here. These ferries are extremely busy in the summer time...

"THE HISTORICAL DON RIVER RAILWAY... DEVENPORT.."

This is a good way to spend the afternoon at this Historical railway..(see my tip on this place)
