Look out for buskers and street performances! As we went along doing our shopping in the Salamanca Market, there were a band of musicans who set up their 'stage' on the streets. I had enjoyed the performance but couldn't really stay long. So make sure that if you are there, do allow yourself some extra time to do just that.
Hobart: Bottom Bits Buses - Great Day-trippers!

This is a great company running day trips to all the main sights around Hobart; suitable for students and folks traveling on a budget. You get to mingle with the mainly young (hostelite) crowds and see places at cheaper costs.

Try to see a Tasmanian devil. I saw a bunch of them at a hospital for injured ones (hit by cars, mostly). They have the strongest jaws of any land animals, about 10 times the strongest dog! They eat carrion only, but bones, fur, everything. Supposedly a few murder victims have been fed to the devils and completely disappeared. I saw a dead wallaby thrown into a pit with five female devils. Fifteen minutes later, the wallaby was GONE! The ripping and crunching sounds were unforgettable.
Awesome Bicentennial Park

For spectacualar views of Hobart, go to this park which is adjacent to Mt. Nelson lookout and Signal Station and you will find awesome scenes - coastal and water scens, city scenes, etc.
It was worth taking the bus trip here as we were pressed for time. We did not make it to the other lookout due to the foggy weather- we're supposed to also go to Mt. Wellington but as I heard it has similar views! So it was a good thing we made it here!

see a Tasmanian Devil (my namesake!)
Not found anywhere else in the world .. the Tasmanian Devil is one of the only meat eating marsupials (its very viscious) and is amazing to see. They are nocturnal so can be hard to see in the wild (I wouldn't recommend approaching one)
