great views

Check in service was great as there was no-one else waiting. There was only the one service person who provided great service by calling a store we wanted to visit to find out their opening hours and explained about hotel parking.
Inserting the parking key into the slot would be a bit scary if you didn't know how to do a hill start and was using the parking in the upper level, as the slot is at the top of an incline.
Room was lovely, spacious and modern with views over the waterfront and mountain. We had a spa room which was also self-contained.
I thought queen sized bed was fine until I woke up with a sore back the next day and the pillows were not very comfortable.
It was nice to have a choice of a shower head to use (wall or ceiling) but the shower didn't have a door and the water went halfway over the bathroom floor (was a drain in the floor) and partway into the entry area.
Electric blinds and a heat pump were the stand out features.
There is no restaurant in the hotel and breakfast is just a continental breakfast pack from the fridge in the hotel, of which only 1 is provided.

Unique Quality: On the waterfront, within walking distance to Salamanca Square and city centre.

Zero Davey, Ups and downs!

Upon arriving at Zero Davey I was very impressed with the superficial appearance of the place. Unfortunately, a lot of the things that impressed were indeed very superficial. The first indicator that things were about to go wrong was when I went to put some music on. They may have plasma screens in every room, but they don't have simpler things like CD players, or a DVD player to go with the plasma screen. After then battling with the controls for the heater, and discovering in the very unhelpful instructions that it would take half an hour to heat up, I thought that a hot shower would warm me up instead. I turned on one of the shower heads (there are two) and discovered that the incredibly ineffective and rather broken shower head sends a whole lot of water out the door of the shower (probably because it doesn't actually have a door) and out onto the bathroom floor. The second shower head was an improvement, but the bathroom got very wet, and the water drained out the bathroom door and into the kitchen area. Slightly dangerous. I would not have worried so much if I hadn't just discovered that the room isn't serviced on Sundays. You would think that they would have mentioned this when we had booked weeks in advance! But no. Apparently there is a notice on the check in card, but don't they think that perhaps that's a bit late? After my shower, I went out onto the balcony to discover cigarette butts and a crushed pre-mixed can of liquor on the ground so rather than sit out in the trash I went back to climb into bed (which I admit was very comfortable, although the pillows were huge, to the point that both my boyfriend and I had sore necks the next day) and went to turn on the bedside light, only to discover that it was blown. There were a few other small problems, but I think you get the idea! What a place. If after all this you do decide to stay there (it is visually very lovely) make sure you check your booking confirmation because they originally confirmed me for the wrong dates. That could have gotten messy!

Unique Quality: The waterfront suites have fantastic views, the location is fantastic, right on the water. The suites are visually very pleasing, and the staff are really wonderfully friendly. There is very limited secure car parking, but if you don't get one of the approximately 10-12 spaces available then you're on your own. The bed was also lovely and comfortable.
