Walton House: Fantastic bed and breakfast
We recently visited Australia and spent a few days in Tasmania staying at three or four different places for a couple of nights each. Walton House was our choice for the southern region and proved to be our favourite. It's newly renovated so is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and the breakfasts were lovely, everything freshly prepared and served by Mark and Diane, it was the only B&B we stayed at where you could get an espresso so that was also a bonus.
Unique Quality: The owners were lovely and made us feel at home and very welcome.

Mt Field National Park: National Park Camping
Reasonable rates (about A$7 per person per night for unpowered tent site) and nice surroundings.
Good facilities, well maintained. Plenty of showers and hot water, campers laundry also.
This was the best spot we camped to see wildlife...at dusk these Pademelon's came out and hopped around everywhere. They were a bit timid, but approached fairly close to our tent and especially our picnic table.
Unique Quality: A little babbling brook (or creek) ran only a few feet behind our tent (we developed this fixation of camping by water...just because we COULD)
We saw from a log book at the Information board that a platypus had been seen there from time to time...unfortunately we didn't see one (they're nocturnal and you'd have to be lucky to spot one with your torch)

Dover Caravan Park: Camping at Dover
We stayed in the caravan park here at Dover, with the scenery of rolling hills and dairy cattle, rather than ocean scenery for a change, though the harbour was just across the road from the park.
Unique Quality: It was far quieter here than at other parks we'd been (not that noise was an issue - I just mean there were no seagulls squabbling of a morning).
The owners were most helpful, handed us maps and gave us local information/travel tips before we could even ask.
A very good place to base if you're intending to see the Hastings caves, as we were.
