Craigs Royal Hotel (Motel) is located in the heart of the city, Ballarat's Historic Lydiard Street.
The Motel is heritage stone (built 1853 so probably our oldest and most historically authentic hotel) 2 storied, with 2 square upper towers (popular for wedding night accommodation)
There are 2 large ballrooms richly decorated with chandaliers and attractive surroundings, often used for wedding receptions..

Unique Quality: From the tower windows there is a good view over
Lydiard street and the city. The interior of the hotel is plushly furnished and very attractive. There is a bar and restaurant downstairs serving light meals to dinner.
It's an attractive place to stay for those who want old world charm in an authentically old hotel, which is quite rare here as the majority of hotels are either modern or reproduction. ( Another alternative is one of manyl heritage B & B's in and around the city.) Craig's is one of the most central hotels to the inner city. Only 2 - 5 minutes walking to 2 shopping centres, the cinemas and the Fine Art Gallery. Her Majesty's Theatre is directly opposite, and you're only doors from the main street and many restaurants and cafes.
