Take A Tour
by keeweechic
Guided tours will take you 61 metres (30 storeys) down below the surface. You will be given a hard hat complete with miners light. On level 2 you will be given the history of gold mining in Bendigo and see gold in the quartz reef on the mine’s tunnels. The Central Deborah Gold Mine is still being worked today.

A search for attractive architecture is rewarding in this town and reflects the rich (literally) heritage of the town.
Pointed roofs and Gothic spires reflect the English influence so prominent at the time.
This is merely a preschool today.
BENDIGO ..VICTORIA..

"BENDIGO..BEAUTIFUL BENDIGO..VICTORIA.."
BENDIGO..This was the end of one trip and the start of the trip called the "Golden Way"to look at all the old gold mining towns here in Victoria..there is just so many of these amazing old towns where the gold nuggets were sought out...even today (moreso than ever) prospecting has really taken off with the quality of the new metal detectors and the really high price of gold..prospectors can be seen all through the bush with their metal detectors..also I was taking photos of a lot of the real icon pubs for a Calendar that I wanted to produce.....called "Aussie Icon Pubs"...if nothing else I got to see all the great pubs and have a beer or two in all of them...so it wasn't too bad ...smile...my photo I have here doesn't do this wonderful building the justice it deserves..a truly lovely old building...The history that I had of a lot of this I lost with a travel journal I was using at the time...
"BENDIGO VICTORIA.."
I didn't take this tram journey around Bendigo although my family did. There is a tram museum here with many of the old trams in different livery and they leave frequently for a short local trip...all the girls did a tram journey after they had taken a mine exploration tour underground. of the Central Deborah mine.....they said that they enjoyed it immensely...
"BENDIGO...ANOTHER GREAT PUB..."
This is a really lovely pub that has been really well re-decorated. .serves..great food and cold beer...just a lovely hotel...with accomodation...a tremendous amount of the local cottages have wrought iron "lace" around the verandahs and patios..there was a large wrought iron industry here in earlier years...
