GOLD NUGGET CARAVAN PARK: GOOD CAMPGROUND
The Golden Nugget was a Caravan park, located off the Midland Highway. There were shady trees, lawned sites, paved roadways and clean facilities. We didn't need the shade, as it turned out pretty cool and a light frost on a morning in May.
The park was excellent, offering heaps of facilities, all included in the price.
The Camp Kitchen with plenty of under cover BBQ's had everything you needed, as did the laundry, and plenty of wash lines too!
The children had plenty of entertainment, including Giant Jumping Pillow, Championship Mini Golf and a lovely playground.
The solar heated pool has a toddlers pool. Garden Chess, Lawn bowls, a games rooms, 2 playgrounds, tennis court, basketball & Bocce, what more could you want?
Internet?....Free Wireless Broadband to all sites & accommodation units, and 8-station Internet Kiosk & Gaming Network
The park is rated at 4.5 stars, but we gave it 5*!
We stayed in a Caravan at a powered site.
They do have a big choice of cabins from cheap to expensive, the website gives a good overview about all the park.

Butlers of Bendigo: Excellent B&B
Bill & I decided to stay at the B&B in Bendigo...and it was an excellent choice. Barry and Gayle were the greatest hosts from the minute stepped in their home to the time we left. They hung an American flag for us...which was a great first impression. Then...we received fresh coffee and a bottle of champagne upon arrival. Our room was comfortable...and the breakfast was impressive.
The restaurants aren't the best in the little town...but Bendigo is only 5 minutes away.
We were surprised at the cost...but the price doesn't reflect the quality...it's the best deal in the area!

The Shamrock Hotel
The Shamrock Hotel is famous to Bendigo and was opened in 1854 at the height of the gold mining boom in Bendigo. Later on a concert hall and theatre were added. Top artists used to play at the concert hall. In 1858 during a renovation of the hotel a fire gutted the hotel but a new hotel was built in 1860 along with an 800 seat concert hall. Yet again in 1896 a new Shamrock Hotel was built and is the existing hotel there now. The hotel has been fully refurbished in a style of its early days, and offers first class accommodation, a bistro, bar and Diamond Lils Tabaret Pokies.
You can eve get a tour of the hotel for around $5.00.
