Travel Tips for Daylesford

Anne12's Childhood Home

by ATXtraveler

If you are looking for the more historical account of Daylesford, then you are best to check out the current ANZ bank in downtown Daylesford. This is the former home of Daylesford's reigning queen of VT, Anne12. Anne grew up in this bank (at the time it was a house), and used to smile and wink out of that balcony window to her husband as he detailed his Holdens that were for sale across the street. Young love bloomed and the rest is in a torrid romance novel floating around somewhere in Victoria.

For more detail on the real life accounts of Anne's travel journeys, check out her page.

For more detail on where to get money out of the bank while in Daylesford, go to the ANZ bank site.

Bring luggage that's easy to carry on and off buses if that's the way you're travelling - so maybe backpacks.
If arriving by car, you can choose what kind of luggage to bring. Daylesford is a little cooler than the surrounding area due to its higher elevation, but even in winter it only goes below 0 on frosty mornings, and days are a minimum of about 10 degrees. Summer days are nice. You don't really need to bring anything special by way of weather gear. You can purchase these in town but it's cheaper to buy them in a larger town before you get here. You can purchase film here, but again, cheaper to buy it in a department store than in this town. If you're planning on trying the mineral water, don't forget to bring plenty of plastic bottles. It's all free!

Some Unusual Sites...

by Sweetberry1

This town has many nature loving residents, folks that have literally gone back to living in the bush, and loving the peaceful surroundings..
Some even like to drive around town with some of the nature wrapped around their car. ;-)

Natural Spring Water...

by Sweetberry1

Natural mineral springs abound in the area. The Park has mineral springs located at Sailors Falls, Tipperary Springs, Golden Spring and Argyle Spring.
Adjacent to the Park is the Hepburn Mineral Springs Reserve and Lake Daylesford Central Springs.
Some of the springs have hand pumps whilst others are continuous flowing pipes.
