Need help with spa packages....
by wen24j
Just wondering if anyone has recently had a great experience at one of the MANY day spa places in Daylesford that they could recommend. My best friend (turning 40 !) and I are wanting some treatment packages that we can do together but I'm having trouble sorting through the many places.
If you can recommend somewhere that you have tried or know of please let me know.
Thanks
Wendy

Hello:)
I go to Eagle Therapy for massage. They do not have a spa there.
I also did a Hydro Bath/ massage at the Mineral Springs Hotel Resort in Hepburn last Christmas and it was great. They have so many things you can do and the area is lovely...
Have a look at dayget.com.au and then follow the prompts to the Spa/massage area.
You could also ring them and ask....0353484422
They are the most professional at all bookings etc in this area.
If you are going out for dinner I would recommend dinner at the Farmers Arms Hotel in Daylesford, a few drinks at the bar first, great place to drink and dine, then after that grab a taxi down to the Palais in Hepburn Springs and continue drinking:) and this will top off a great night.
I also recommend the Red Star cafe in Hepburn Springs for breakfast( or just a coffee).....say Annie sent you via the net:) if they have forgotten me , tell them I will deal with that when I come down at Christmas!!!!!
Have a great time in Daylesford/Hepburn Springs...........I do miss my mates:)

Travel Tips for Daylesford
Vincent Street (main street of Daylesford)
by Kate-Me
Even just taking a walk along the main street of Daylesford is always enjoyable, as I always see something different or new - new boutiques or cafes opening, shops changing. So many cafes and eateries to choose from too.
All seasons in one day!

Travel light, it's all casual here so you don't need to bring heaps of clothes. Always put in a jumper or warm jacket, even in Summer it can turn cool of a night.
Good walking shoes.
If you go out for the evening to one of the restaurants you can get *dressed up* if you wish, but it's mainly neat casual. Summer= Sunblock Camera of course......
You can buy batteries here at the local supermarket or chemist.
Hanging Rock
by M0B1US
This twisted and haunting rocky outcrop was the setting for Joan Lindsay's famous novel 'Picnic at Hanging Rock' about the disappearance of several Appleyard College students, and a teacher, from the eponymous rock, and was made into a critically acclaimed film by Peter Weir in 1975.
Used as a hideout by Mad Dog Morgan, the notorious bushranger in the 1860s and a place of Aboriginal legend, Hanging Rock Reserve is today an important koala sanctuary. Also from a geological point of view, Hanging Rock is one of the best examples of a mamelon, a lava extrusion, swollen and grown by internal pressure, in the world.
Whatever it is about this place, walking amongst the deep maze-like fissures and cracks on this dome of rock really does give you the 'willies' as you feel certain that something sinister is watching you - even on a bright sunny day!
Big crowds are also drawn to the Hanging Rock Races which are held each year on New Year's Day and Australia Day. There is also a namesake winery 1km away that produces a range of quality red, white and sparkling wines.
Roadside Shopping
by Anne12
As you drive along the roads of country Victoria you are sure to see a bargain or two.
Farm fresh eggs, horse poo for the garden, pine cones or bags of wood, flowers and lots more.
Have a few spare dollars in the glovebox so you can buy along the way.
( I recommend to buy the horse poo as you are going home!:) )
Most of these road stalls are honesty based you stick the money in the tin and off you go.
Lake Daylesford
by M0B1US
Lake Daylesford is at the epicentre of the town as it is here that alluvial gold was found in 1851, sparking the rush of prospectors here and the subsequent creation of the town. The Wombat Flats Diggings as it became known eventually played out and was the site of a Chinese market garden and joss house until 1929 when the lake was created.
Nowadays the lake is actually in two parts of almost equal size bisected by Bleakley St and is contained within its own picturesque park with attractive ‘Peace Mile’ walking path that does a circuit of the lake.
There is a nice café on the waterfront, as well as a great BBQ picnic spot if you don’t mind competing for space with all the waterfowl.
Many people also fish here and there is a boathouse from where you can hire rowing boats, aquabikes, paddleboats, canoes and surf skis.
Next to the lake at the southern end of Fulcher St is the forested Central Springs Spa Reserve where there are four mineral springs, walks, picnic areas and many shady nooks to explore.
From here you can also take the Tipperary Walking Track which explores the Hepburn Regional Park. It is an easy and well-signposted route of 16.7 km in total, but this can be broken into shorter sections.
There is also a decent-sized second-hand ‘book barn’ here, next to the car park. All in all, a great place to chill…
