Make your own Peanut Butter!

I am not sure if you are like me when it comes to your food selections, but I love peanut butter. Unfortunately for me, it is normally well preserved and plenty of fat and oils are added to it to make sure that it remains in a consistent state on the grocery store shelves. Sarah was nice enough to point out to me that the milk bar in downtown Daylesford actually makes it own peanut butter fresh and natural here in front of you!
This was like a dream come true for me, so I got a nice big jar of it!!!
If you are a fresh peanut butter lover like me, stop in and have some ground into a pulp in front of your eyes like I did!!
Enjoy the bush surrounds

Tipperary Springs is just outside the town of Daylesford.
Here you can have a BBQ, paddle in the creek or just enjoy the peace and quiet.
There is a mineral water pump there for you to taste the local water.
Plenty of trees for shade. There is also a toilet.
If you walk along the creek you can find a few waterholes where you just might catch a fish or two.
From this area you can also head off on one of the walking tracks. These are marked. It would be a good idea to call into the Tourist info centre and get one of the free walking track brochures.
This is a lovely little area. Please following the warnings...:)
BEWARE:-
Summer time is SNAKE time. The surrounds of the creek are usually well mowed but if they aren't watch where you are stepping.
If it is a total FIRE ban do not light the BBQ's. We are surrounded by forest and we don't want to loose our homes or the fauna and flora.
When you are in Daylesford head out on the Ballarat Road. Just as you are coming out of Daylesford you will see a large brick building....just past that on your right there is a sign Boomerange Holiday Ranch follow this sign you will see the other signs.
Ranch you turn right, to the left and down the hill to Tipperary Springs.
Catch it and cook it!

Tukki Trout farm is a wonderful place to take the family for the day.
Here you will find a small cafe' where you can buy a coffee or something light to eat.
OR you can take your own packed picnic lunch with you.
You then can sit on the banks of the dams and throw a line in, you are guaranteed to catch a trout. If your skills aren't up to scratch they will give you a tin of corn to entice the trout to your line.
You can take your own line or they will hire them to you.
During the afternoon you can watch them feed the fish.
Also you might see a sheep being shorn as well.
There is also accommodation here. Lovely little cottages set among the dams and gardens.
WARNING It is great fun to catch the fish....BUT you have to pay for the fish you catch...by weight....so don't get too carried away!

Botanical Gardens

Up on Wombat Hill there are the Botanical Gardens.
These are kept in very good condition and are lovely to walk around. There are many beautiful old trees that are around the garden area.
There is a lookout tower near the carpark. This has just been given an overhaul so don't worry it's safe. There is one problem, over the years the trees have grown and the tower hasn't so you really don't get much of a view.
When you drive on the track around the gardens you can get a lovely view of Daylesford.
There is a Kiosk there where you can get light meals, drinks and an icecream.
