The Mercure Hotel, on the corner of Gheringhap and Myers St., has accomodation aplenty. It also has function rooms available for hire. I have attended a few functions at The Mercure Hotel. One function we attended at The Mercure Hotel was the Neighborhood House Association forum, where people from Neighborhood Houses all over Victoria came to Geelong for a weekend. We all got to share ideas, stories and got to meet a lot of people from other places around Victoria. Great weekend! Great function rooms at The Mercure Hotel.

The Mercure Hotel provides great accomodation. There is a nice patio area with a pool. Meals are excellent.

If you are coming to Geelong in January, one of the best choices you can make is to bring your own yacht or boat. It appeared to me that the town was definitely filled with more people than hotel rooms, so after a little investigation, we noticed that most of these ships do have places for you to sleep. From the looks of some of these seaworthy motels, I would bet that this is where most of your vacation will be moored! If you are after "moor" information, it is best to contact the marina directly on the links below:

Mercure Hotel

I have not actually stayed at this hotel, but it is a landmark of Geelong. I have never heard a word about poor srevice or read anything bad about this hotel in the paper. I've heard from many people that their facilities are excellent, as is the restaurant.

Parking, restaurant, swimming pool, meeting/functions room. Foxtel available in all rooms. It is the tallest building in Geelong.

The Room

We paid $170 for the deluxe spa suite, we got a bottle of bubbly and Austar as well, so I was pleased!

We decided to stay at this motel after night after night in caravan parks, and that is not usually what we do. We really just did that to save money! Anyhow, I wanted a place with a spa and my other half wanted a tv that had Austar (pay tv) so he could watch the cricket. We got it, and mind you, we paid for it too!!!!! Oh well, we must treat ourselves every now and then.....
