Convenient, affordable and clean
Costed me about AUD37 from the airport to Downtowner at Lygon. Booked the accomodation package with the Grand Prix tickets.
The frosted glass door you see is the bathroom entrance. It's quiet spacious. It's got a bathtub & the minibar's in one of the the bathroom cabinets. A little weird though. A hairdryer, soap & towels are provided.
The only window in the room is the one in the bathroom. If you need to air the room, you gotta open up the bathroom door so the air from the outdoors get through the wide bathroom window.
I needed to do that 'coz the heater was just too drying in that small room.
There's a table for two. It's where I stood to snap this pix. The closet's between the door and TV. There's a blind shading only between the corridor outside and your bedroom. That window's sealed, by the way.
The motel's got a small lobby & lift, but the room was comfortable enough and clean. It's a motel. So no pool. Location is awesome though. Situated in the corner of Queensbury and Lygon Street, you get to pig out all the time. Little Italy has fantastic Italian (the obvious), Souvlaki and lotsa gelati. Carlton Garden's just a few minutes away, across the street.
There's a supermarket, Safeway just at the next block, Borders, Readers (bookstores), a cineplex, indie boutiques, FCUK, Sportsgirl, Ninewest, etc just a round the bend. Guest can do their own laundry on the 2nd floor.
The staff are friendly and helpful. There's also a PC at the lobby( which I had to keep rebooting it) for guest use. You can also get a cab easily from the motel.
I'm a fuss-pot when it comes to places to stay. When I say the place it's clean, believe me, it is. And it's not like you'll stay in the room all day. If it's just a place to bunk over, this place is cool.
I stayed here for 10 days. It was fully booked during my stay. But, it was quiet. You don't hear your neighbours closing the doors and all that.
In my honest opinion, I'd stay here again.
