Go to the Crown Casino -...

Go to the Crown Casino - there's more to it than the gambling! it's beautiful display of lights is absolutely incredible. Southgate - on a beautiful sunny Melbourne day, it's the most enjoyable thing walking along Southgate and the Yarra River.
The ride II
by iandsmith
The trails either side of the Yarra follow the river for substantial distances upstream, featuring many early morning scullers, lovely riverside mansions, stately trees (with appalling quantities of plastic bags suspended on their lower limbs), some nice bridges with city backdrops and nearby noisy traffic.
Apart from the occasional over-enthusiastic tree roots, a fresh wind gusting through narrow sections and a lady of Indian descent who insisted on walking right in the middle of the narrow path it was a pleasant and uneventful experience. This shot was taken on the path I retuned on which happened to be on the other side of the river.
Try to get a bad cup of Coffee!
by ATXtraveler
I really dare anyone to find a bad cup of coffee anywhere in Melbourne!
Even in the middle of the Queen Victoria Market, the street vendor style coffee baristas will serve up a wonderful cup of joe!
My personal preference is for the Flat White (Expresso with steamed milk), but there are plenty of different ways to make it!
Packing List
by Krystynn
Don't pack too many clothings in your suitcase. Clothes in Melbourne are relatively inexpensive... and Aussie designers are one of the best in the world. I usually bring along a half empty luggage and go to Australia to replenish my wardrobe. Really.
Great Australian labels to look out for includes: Coogi, Portman's, Charlie Brown, Lisa Ho, Ken Done, Cue, Collette Dinnigan, Sportsgirl and Country Road.
There are more, of course... but I've just about named my favorites. :-))) Photo Below: That's me (again)... caught UNAWARE (horror of horrors!) on camera whilst busy Christmas shopping in Melbourne Central. Giz! I could strangle that cousin of mine.

Hanging Rock Winery
by kooka3
If you're going to be in the area anyway, definitely take the time to stop at the Hanging Rock Winery.
The people are so nice! They took the time to explain all the different wines and let us taste a lot. They are especially famous for their Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz, but they make the whole gamit of reds and whites.
The hill that this is on is called the Jim Jim (I really should have found out what this means, if anything. There's also Jim Jim falls in the NT -- see my Kakadu page for that), and the winery overlooks the famous Hanging Rock
They are open 7 days a week during regular business hours. They are only an hour away from Melbourne.
