Street entertainers

These were from Bolivia, they weren't bad. Most of their songs used the Pan flute. This kind ofo thing is fairly common in Melbourne during the nice weather. The scene could have been lifted from any other western city, but it was pleasant.
Melbourne's Public Toilet
by eviltooth
Favourite thing about Melbourne? Clean public toilets. :)
If you can't stand dirty toilets (I doubt anyone can ;)), be rest assured that those in Melbourne are extremely clean, even the one at the market. Some even have a nice smell and I'm not being sarcastic. ;)
I saw this pic in my sis' PC. She's doing her archi. project on public toilet. ;) This one is next to the Melbourne Town Hall at Collins Street. You'll find a number of them dotting the city.

Tipping is not customary in Australia as workers in service related professions are covered by award wages.
However, workers do appreciate tips if you feel that they have given you exceptional service, or if you are in a large group of people who have just eaten at a restaurant.
As a guide, tips are normally given as 10 per cent of the total bill.
Row, row, row your boat...
by dracko
If you're strolling along the South Bank and feel like some exercise of a different sort, stop by the boathouses that are there, right by the Flinders Station Bridge. At least one of the boathouses that is owned by a local rowing club will rent you (or you and several of your buddies) a boat and will teach you the intricacies of crew. Bring clothes that you wouldn't mind getting wet.
