Rude and disappointing

We checked in on a Saturday afternoon and left straight away to go to an AFL game not returning until night time. We did not realise until the next morning how unsafe the room was for children. We had a 16month old son (at the time) and there were cords hanging down from the television, the lamp was on a lean, the heater and microwave were at child height and one of the chairs had a metal staple strip sticking out that could have seriously injured our little boy. We checked out that day (we had booked for 3 nights) and we have since been charged for the damaged chair and we are unable to receive a refund for the 2 nights accommodation that we couldn't use. This has been going on for 3 weeks and is still not resolved and like you Nick we have experienced a ridiculous amount of rudeness. We have sought legal advice and will be contacting Consumer Affairs Victoria. We are very disappointed as this was our first real family holiday.

Horrendous horrible experience

Just want to share a horrendous experience with city edge apartment. We stayed in one of City Edge's apartment motels for 2 nights and 3 days. Not satisfied with the facility (too compact, heater didn't work well for the winter) and the onsite parking (too compact, just 3 inches interval from other parked cars). Anyway, it compensates their cheap price. However, after 2 days from checkout, this apartment motel debited $100 from my bank account and phoned me after to inform me that such amount has been debited because after they checked the room after we left, the mirror got smashed. How? 2 days after we checked out...Ridiculous. The last thing I did before leaving the motel was to had a look at my self in front of the mirror, combed my hair for the last time and it was perfect. Or, is it just a business strategy? taking money from customers for nothing? pseudo-damage? I don't mind paying certain amounts if I trully incurred the damage. And the staff (James) sounded so rude and arrogant, so defensive and GUILTY??? I shared this to some colleagues and friends and apparently a colleague of mine stated the same horrible experience with city edge apartment: debited certain amount from her bank account claiming for a damage which, apparently is not for real! A lesson to learn-- Go for an affordable but decent facility with honest management..

Unique Quality: Nothing superb!

Gipps Street

We booked a 2 bedroom apartment. Apartment was clean, all facilities provided. Complimentary parking. Laundry on grounds. Close to transport and the city. Very prompt service for an online booking. There are 3 sets of serviced apartments, which come in Studio, 1 or 2 bedroom. Very happy.

Unique Quality: Close to the city. Tram is a 5 minute walk. There is an IGA supermarket and a bottle shop a 5 minute walk away.

Economical Accomodation

An old walk up apartment located just 10min outside the CBD area. It is actually located between the CBD and Richmond St where the outlets are. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment and it comes with a large kitchen. Rooms are relatively old and if you have large luggages, do ask for the ground floor units! And specify for a bath tub if u need one. Service is very friendly and good thing about being out of CBD is you get to park your rental car at the premises for FREE! Will otherwise cost you at least AUD 30 each day within the CBD.
We chose this apt cos we needed to buy an extra night to allow us to check out late in the night (our flight was at 1am) and the daily rate is below AUD100.
