The 12 Apostles
One of the highlights of the Great Ocean Road was the 12 Apostles, actually there are dozens of them. It was windy while we were there so helicopter flights were grounded but the views from the lookout points were spectacular.

I understand there is a public bus route 479 from Metlink passing by airport to city, but i want to know where you can purchase the ticket? Actually it is much cheaper than Skybus.
You can buy some tickets online. Otherwise go to Metlink site and it will probably tell you where you can buy tickets - depending upon where you are many newsagents sell tickets, and there are ticket machines in some stations. Selling agents display the blue ‘Metcards sold here’ sigs in their windows.

Yes it is much cheaper but it is not a frequent service. It does not go to the City though. It goes to Moonee Ponds junction. From there you would have to change bus.

I would stick to Skybus if I was you unless you want to go to Moonee Ponds of course!
Beside the skybus that goes to Southern Cross station or public bus, is there any other alternative public transport that goes to City from airport?
You can buy the ticket on board and then use it for the rest of the day. As others have said it is cheaper, but takes about an hour to get to Moonee Ponds (terminus). You could get off at Essendon rail station and the catch a train to the CBD from there.
Skybus airport to city is about 20 minutes and costs $13 - slightly cheaper if you purchase a return ticket.
4 people travelling together it would be cheaper by taxi direct to hotel in city - about $50 including toll/airport taxi charge.
Yes, You R right, There is also the Route 500 bus go Sunbury Station. From the station, catch a Train to Southern cross. But timing must be right. Only cost $5.80 for a Two hour Zone1+2 Metcard. Service not available on Sunday or Pubic Holiday.

St Patricks Church occupies one of Melbourne's most elevated positions. Construction began in 1858, on what was the third religious building on the site, and continued in stages until 1939, when the addition of three spires marked the centenary of the Catholic Church in Victoria. Designed by well-known architect, William W. Wardell, the Cathedral is regarded as one of the best examples of a Gothic Revival church building in the world. Make a wish...
If you are tired, people watching probably suit you, you only look, do nothing. Here I found two beautiful women walking towards me and I captured them into VT tip, not the most helpful but viewing value not to be denied, they could be somebody famous, celebrity, wives of superstars or your friend's friends.
since melbourne is located between the australian outback and the southern ocean, air currents both seem to meet here, making the weather very chanagable at just about any time of year.i visited melbourne at christmas 2006 where snow was recorded in the mountains outside the city (bearing in mind southern december is equivilant to the northern may).during this period, the weather was cold, wet and windy-not what i expected from the australian summer.however days later, the weather suddenly perked up and temperatures over 30 celcius with strong sun can burn very quickly.remember to take a raincoat and a hoody as well as warm weather gear...
This is one of my personal faves. Around 2-3km onwards from Healsville Sanctuary, along Badger Weir Rd (Route C505) is hte Badger Weir Picnic area. They have set up picnic tables and free gas barbecues for cooking your favourite local meats. There are many wild birds, (Chrimson Rosellas, King Parrots, Kookaburra) which tourists feed with seed despite the warning signs discouraging this practice. You can take awalk up to the weir which is not that spectular but the walk is the real pleasure. You can take the easy way along the "channel" with a nice easy path or you can take the forest walk (which I prefer) thorugh magnificent temperate rain forest. Very Special.
The egglets and I were fortunate to see the very rare lyrebird up here in the wild last year. Believe me, they are extremely hard to see even in captivity at the nearby Healesville Sanctuary.
Make sure if you plan to go to Healesville, do not miss a trip to Badger Wier.
