Funky Hostel In St.Kilda

I have just spent three weeks at one of the funkiest hostels i have been to in my travels. Coffee palace is a great fun hostel with plenty of activities organised by staff.
New owners have come in and you can tell they really care and love the place. Always smiling and helpful and ready to take you on their many pub crawls or even to a game of aussie rules footy. Anthony the manager is a great fella and he got me some work as well. Lots of character, funky ,retro and fun recommend it big time.

Unique Quality: Great common area with cool lamp shades a good homely feel. Roof top terrace. Good games room with pool table, pin ball and they dont mind you having a beer and smoke in the games room. It has about 10 bars and cool cafes within 100mtres and a 5 minute walk to beach. It is a really old buliding but heaps of character. If only the walls could talk

A hostel in St. Kilda

This place have now a new owner. I didn't like this place so much. Maybe this is because the new owners. But Coffe Palace was cold in the winter no heating, and dirt all around. St. Kilda is not the best part of Melbourne. I liked because this place was cheap and we had free beer one night.

The Friendliest Backpackers

Wow! This is the reason I lived here for a month. The minute you step in, people start talking to you, make you feel welcome. There's something to do every night, for example: tuesday a pool competition, wednesday is free wine and cheese and friday night a rooftop barbie. There's a big blackboard in the hall that says what you can do that day. The facilities are great to, there's internet, a washing machine, a tv-room, free pancackes in the morning and 24 hour reception, so you can always talk to someone. You can also work there in exchange for a free night accomodation, so you can finance your own stay with just 2 hours of work a day!

Unique Quality: You can have a babrie on the roof, chill on bean bags in front of the tv, finally do your laundry, check your email and you can go out for dinner from $2,-. They can find you a job to!
