More about Crown Promenade Hotel

Fantastic hotel with great staff

by TripAdvisor Member gib802

Have just returned from a week at the Crown Promenade and have been very impressed with the overall experience.
The staff were genuinely warm, frequently initiating friendly conversation. The room was spotlessly clean and well appointed. Loved the pool and Gym. Great value and service and just across the road from the Crown Casino complex.
One potential issue for Children though is that the covered bridge to the crowne complex goes straight through the Casino. Children under 18 cant take this route to the food court, though the outside detour is not too inconvnient in fine weather.

Definately stay at Crowne Promenade

by TripAdvisor Member fpresto2

Staying at the Crowne Promenade at the moment. We're in Melbourne for the Australian Open.
If you're thinking about where to stay in Melbourne can definately recommend the Crowne Promenade.
The rooms are new and spacious and the accomodation is very reasonable.
Upside : location & its quieter then the Crowne Towers Casino complex which is just across the road. Its 500m away from the lovely Southbank walk along the Yarra ='s v. central.
Downside :
Bathrooms have a shower only.
No robes or slippers
Room service lousy - would recommend eating along the delightful Southbank esplanade where there are so many restaurants to choose from.

I'd stay here again.

Hope that helps
Cheers fpresto2

Luxurious and private

We stayed here for 9 nights at the beginning of January 2007. As we parked, we were greeted immediately and the car was unpacked and taken to the car park (valet parking only, $20 per night). The reception area was large and the reception staff were helpful and welcoming.

Lift access to the accommodation area was by guest-key only and the rooms were reasonably large (two queen beds) and well-furnished with an excellent standard of fittings. The bathroom had a large, walk-in shower only (no bath) but was clean and well maintained. Housekeeping was excellent and consistent throughout our stay.

It was easy to have no contact whatsoever with any of the hotel staff although the concierge staff were helpful and friendly when driving up the car and the barman was knowledgeable about beers (but then, that's his job!).

There's a walkway on the third floor across to the Crown casino complex beside the river. The casino has a distinct "Las Vegas" feel about it which may suit some. Southgate is a five minute walk away and Swanston Street is a ten minute walk across the river.

The hotel is close to the freeway and toll road making it easy to explore the surroundings by car.

Altogether this was a top-quality hotel which lived up to our expectations.

Excellent Rooms, Great Views, Good Breakfast, OK Service

by TripAdvisor Member SeventySix

The Crown Promenade in Melbourne is a good, executive level hotel. We stayed here for two non-consecutive nights in early October 2006.

The hotel is housed in a sleek and modern building and is smartly decorated. It forms part of the Crown Casino complex (linked by air bridge) and sits at one end of the Southbank bar, restaurant and shopping complex. Whilst not all that central, bars and restaurants are a 5 minute walk and the main train station is 10.

The reception staff are surly but the concierge and porters are pleasant enough. On both nights, a bottle of complimentary sparkling wine was delivered to our room as we had advised the hotel we were on our Honeymoon.

We stayed on high floors on both nights of our stay, the first time we had excellent views of Melbourne CBD and the Yarra, the second a less exciting but still impressive view of the smoggy suburbs heading out to the port area. In both cases, the room was an average (and adequate) size and the bathrooms were large. Both rooms had floor-to-ceiling windows to help savour the views. The second room we stayed in had a floor-to-ceiling window in the bathroom so you could go about your business whilst looking out on the morning commuters!

The furnishings were of a good quality and the rooms were smartly decorated. The beds were very comfortable and the linen was of high quality. The marble bathrooms were clean and well maintained, although the showers did not maintain a constant temperature (apparently a feature, according to reception).

The pool/gym/internet café area was very smartly set out and clean and modern. Free morning papers and good coffee was available.

We had a continental breakfast delivered to the room on both stays which was very high quality and plentiful (there was so much food the first time that we ordered just one breakfast the second).

All in all, an excellent hotel given the quality of the décor and furnishings and the relatively inexpensive room rate. It’s let down only by the distinctly average service. I’d stay here again

Fantastic Experience

by TripAdvisor Member divagirlSydney

The Crown Promenade is one of the best hotels we've experienced. My husband and I stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed everything you'd expect from a modern 5 star hotel. Check in was smooth, efficient and very friendly.

The standard room was anything but standard - we found a spacious room with a comfy king sized bed, lovely city view from the 23rd floor, all the mod cons, an exceptional bathroom - and everything was clean! If you're after something modern, then this is it.

Being part of the Crown Complex ensured every convenience was within easy walking distance and we enjoyed breakfasts and dinners at some very memorable restaurants.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Lovely modern hotel

by TripAdvisor Member romab

I enjoyed my three night stay here. The hotel is located in the Crown Entertainment Complex which includes a huge casino, food court and plenty of restaurants. Whilst this is a bit of a walk from central Melbourne there is a shuttle bus every hour dropping off at three points in town.
The rooms are of a reasonable size and well equipped (although no bath robes are provided). The decor is modern and stylish and whilst there is no bath there is a fabulous power shower and toileteries supplied by Red Earth.
Throughout my stay all the staff were most helpful and friendly.

Highly enjoyable stay!

We stayed here for 7 nights as part of a prize holiday to the Australian Grand Prix, and the organising travel agents made an excellent choice for us! It is a lovely, smart, clean and well located hotel with excellent staff and service!

We stayed in a good sized room on the front of the hotel, with a view across the Crown Casino complex and the river. Very comfortable bed, plenty of wardrobe space, and a nice big shower!

The hotel was extremely busy when we stayed there, as the F1 Grand Prix AND the World Swimming Championships were on that weekend, but there were plenty of staff when we needed them, and the concierges were very helpful when we had questions. And everyone always had a smile for us!

We didn't eat in the restaurant so I can't comment on that, but we tried some of the restaurants in the Crown complex and they were all very good. The hotel is also a reasonable walking distance to most attractions in the city centre, and the free City Tram stops are just across the river.

A very enjoyable stay, we would stay again and recommend it without hesitation!

Awesome views, spacious rooms and great friendly staff!

Stayed in a spacious corner suite for one night when I was travelling alone in Melbourne last year. It was my last nite in Melb so me and a friend decided to splurge and just walked into the hotel for a very very last minute booking (i think it was 11pm!!!). Anyway the staff were great, everyone was polite and Louise at the desk is amazing! She made us feel very welcomed and upgraded us to the corner room and even offered us late check out at 12pm. What i loved the most was the view the corner suite had! Windows everywhere! Even the bathroom! I felt a lil strange sittin on the toilet and being able to look out at the view but there were blinds for extra privacy. TV was sufficient, bed was comfy and warm and slippers, robes and all the usual toiletries were of course available. Didn't have time to check out the restaurant or other services but if you're looking for great service and an awesome place to rest your head with lots and lots of room...this is the place to be!

The experience was so good i was so sad to leave the next day. Would definitely come back and stay longer if my funds would allow me!!! I loved everything about this hotel!

Stayed for 2 nights with husband on a shopping, relaxation getaway. Fantastic property in a really central location. Lovely bathroom with gigantic shower (great water pressure). flufffy towels and nice bathroom amenities. The buffet breakfast in Mesh is excellent, nice variety of hot and cold dishes. I would recommend this property to anyone and, when in Melbourne again, would not hesitate to stay here.

Very Good - Will Return

by TripAdvisor Member MikekNZ

The was the last stop in a multi city journey and the best.

To be fair, the hotel is pretty new, so you would expect it to be modern and it was. As you pull up your presented with a mass of steel and glass in a very modern setup, check in was no problem and the staff most friendly. My room was on the 12th floor facing back towards the crown casino (which is attached)

The room was typical size - plenty of room, and had a nice design and layout. I did notice the conventional tv which was a little surprising given the place is new would have thought a lcd would have suited the room a bit more. But overall the bed and fittings were top notch. The bathroom was modern with quartz style benches etc and a large (enough for 3-4) glass shower enclosure. To me this was a bit odd as there was more than enough room for a bath which would give the room more options. But no matter. Room included internet which was fine, signup was a little more complicated than other places and capped at 512k which was a bit slow (as i deal in large files) especially compared to the previous hotel i stayed in which had no speed limits . Again no matter.

The best bit that would take me back here no problem even if the above wasn't so good was the fact its connected by air bridge to the Crown Casino across the road - which as a solo traveler gives you lots of other options on things to do. The crown casino is pretty big, and has lots of cheaper dining and entertainment options - so this was pretty cool ..

The gym and pool area are very nice - didn't use them but they like everything else - modern and clean .. the infinity pool (indoor) with the backdrop of the city was impressive.

Didnt dine in etc due to work commitments and the casino being close so cant comment much on that.

The location was good - close enough to the casino but not in the hustle and bustle of it, walking distance to Collins street or there is a shuttle (free) but not in the noise and traffic, so again a good mix.

The only real annoyance i can think of is, my room cards kept de magnetizing - both of them for no particular reason - ie not kept in a wallet etc - and given you need them for the for the lifts and the rooms - it can be inconvenient - just a warning in case your caught outside your room in your robe and have to head on down to the lobby :)

Overall a very good place to stay and I will be back .
