Hi, I'm travelling to Australia in 2weeks and wondering is it too late to open bank account from UK?or is it simple enough to open acc over there, do you need australian address or anything?

You can't really do it from the UK. You need to present 100 points of identification - your passport will give you 70 points, the other 30 can be made up from a variety of other means - full details here -

It is a very simple procedure to do once you are here, takes only a few mins and you have a functioning account striaght away.
Just make sure you have plenty of ID, passport, driving licence, your UK bank cards etc.
When visiting Melb, don't forget to pay a visit to Great Ocean Road. You'll see things that you don't see everyday. Amazing view! I had my greatest time in my life when I was in Melb. I get to spend time with my better half and my friends. Not to forget the sunset in St.Kilda and also the Crown Entertainment Centre. An absolutely great place that you must not miss when you visit Melbourne!
The Visitor Information Centre is the place to visit for your Melbourne and Victoria needs. Although they send us to a wrong address to buy tickets for the Australian Open (we were loosing 4 hours of our time to find the right address), the knowledge staff will assist in planning your Victorian stay and the booking service will take care of accommodation, transport and tour requirements. You will find the Visitor Information Centre in the Melbourne Town Hall at the corner of Swanston Street & Little Collins

take a side-trip, preferably during the weekends, to SORRENTO (located along the Mornington Peninsula) to sunbathe or just simply chill out at BACK BEACH.
This is definitely a very happening place to hang out... and you'd be amazed at the string of convertibles parked along the beach area! (Read: Gorgeous guys and gals with buff bods.). It's only about 90 minutes drive away from Melbourne city.
If you prefer to go surfing, then you absolutely must check out TORQUAY, a quaint little town not too far away from Melbourne city. Man, the waves there are magnificent.
Depends how long you'd stay and what's the purpose. Melbourne could be very hot during summer, it's very dry also sometimes and could reach above 35 degree, so in summer, bring all your summer clothing, nice swim wear, and during winter time, Melbourne would be very nice, for me the level of 'cold' is just perfect. Lipbalm, moisturiser, usual medicines Camera is a must
Some of the arcades of Melbourne are an attraction in their own right for their architecture and their beautiful shops, others are just interesting in the way they have picked up the arcade theme.
