I am starting to get round a few but Melbourne has such a wealth of them. Do you know one which is an absolute gem?
Hi Craic, not too many respones on this one so I'll give it a go. Have you found a Savers store yet, there are several around Melbourne, here is a link http://www.savers.com.au/FindAStore.aspx. The one I know is in Sydney road Brunswick has all sorts of things and you can always find a bargain.

The shopping was absolutely fantastic! I didn't find better deals in Sydney or Auckland! (And it was very good relative to Canada.) Our road trip to Phillips Island...Christine Aguillara blasting all the way...and seeing the fairy penguins waddle up the beach...I could have done WITHOUT the trip to the earthworm farm...but getting to feed kangaroos, emus, etc. was really cool!
Take a walk by the broad Yarra river and take in the view. The famous MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) is in the background of this picture. It's easy to find - right next to the CBD or the Botanic Gardens, and you can walk along in for much of its route these days.

take a side-trip to the MORNINGTON PENINSULA... a lovely area scattered with quaint LITTLE towns (like Sorrento) and lovely attractions... like the PINE RIDGE CAR MUSEUM. Oh, and that's me about to check out that place.

Australia has a lot of getaways, and it would be very wise to take that opportunity. Secluded and deserted beaches are very easy to find and are very accessible – they are great spot to have “a little chat with yourself”. Jokes aside, but those places really can help you to put some things in perspective.
Of course, there are a lot of commercial getaways and I highly recommend them, too.
