Disappointing Room, very bad customer servie

We stayed at the Charsfield for two nights and paid on average 243 AUD (higher rate was due to the Melbourne Cup weekend). We choosed not to book a Standard Room and paid a little extra for a Deluxe room which was advertised as a "Beautifully appointed room" on their webpage. The hotel is a nice, charming building from the outside, the room however was very, very disappointing!!! The size of the room was good, but there was almost no daylight coming through the window. Less than two meters from the window was the wall to the next building and you could hardly see any sky. The bathroom was so narrow that sitting on the toilet you could rest your head on the opposite wall. On our last night we were woken up at 5 am from water dripping. First I thought it was rain dripping outside, but it was so noisy that I switched on the light to check. Water was dripping from the ceiling inside the room on the desk where we were charging our phones, ipad etc. As everything was wet and still plugged in we immediately moved the desk away and carefully unplugged everything. I think I don’t have to mention how dangerous that was! We moved the baby cot further away and of course our baby woke up as well. After drying all electronic devices the dripping stopped and as we didn’t want to get dressed in the middle of the night and were hoping to get the baby back to sleep as soon as possible, we waited to complain on check out a few hours later. We called the receptionist who first of all blamed us that we didn’t call him in the night. He tried to be helpful, but as we said that we were not willing to pay the full amount for that last night he said that this would be management decision. I wrote a comment on our bill, explaining the situation and that we are not agreeing to pay the full amount. We were told that somebody would call as back the next day. A week later nobody had called us back. So far I called them three !!! times, first two times being told the manager would call the next day, third time getting the answer that manager is suddenly on holiday. What a lie! Things like the water dripping and choosing a hotel with bad, overpriced rooms can happen, but treating customers like this is just outrageous! Management could have had at least the courtesy to call back – poor behavior! Can’t recommend this hotel – stay somewhere else!!
