Y Not

Small room, but centrally located in the heart of the city, right around the corner from the Queen Victoria markets. Depends on how much time you want to spend in your hotel room. If you just want a comfy bed at night and a shower at the end of the day - go for it. I thoroughly recommend the Cafe downstairs - I had the best breakfast there.

Hotel Y-Good on the inside but not on the outside

We arrived at Melbourne on March 29, 2006 for the Formula 1 Grand Prix. I stayed at Hotel Y which has a very good pictures on the internet but really got disappointed when I entered the hotel. The lobby was quite small with only a few chairs for guests, elevators was too old (push buttons pop out) although when we were there, they were on renovation. The rooms was very modern but small. I was promised to a LCD TV but upon arriving, I got the old 14" TV although an apology letter was there. I stayed there for 5 days / 4nights.
Room was dark since lights were only limited to a few halogen and lamps. Street noise was bothering since the view was directly the Elizabeth St. where trams come and go.
There is an internet kiosk at the lobby wherein you pay $5 for 25minutes, you get the prepaid card from the lobby although there was once, they ran out of cards.
OVERALL: For the price, which I paid around $200 a night since there was a grand prix, but they should have lowered the price since they were on renovation. Location is very close to Queen Victoria Market.

Unique Quality: sorry, none.
