Spacious comfortable rooms.

We had no choice in the matter staying here as all hotels in Melbourne were booked out due a large conference event occuring through the week.We were also traveling with US guests and it was so embarrassing trying to find somewhere we could stay. Finally the Marriott had two rooms available so we quickly paid by Amex to secure them.

We were surprised to find that our room was extremely spacious with a king size bed and a lovely large bathroom. The staff were very helpful and efficient and upon arriving we were given a glass of juice.

It was a little out of town, but good for the legs, situated near the theatre and Chinatown with some excellent restaurants a few blocks away.

Unique Quality: Pros: Large modern suite rooms with modern bathroom with all the facilities one expects from this sort of establishment.Staff very friendly and helpful.Located close to the theatre and Chinatown. Excellent value.

Nicely located

The Melbourne Marriott was a very nice hotel with very nice staff. Even though we had been told that we would not be able to get a rollway when I originally booked the room by phone, I was able to get one from the accommodating staff.

The concierge and front desk were always very friendly and helpful and we were given maps with directions for our two trips to Phillips Island and the Great Ocean Road.

From the hotel, we walked all over and spent many interesting hours just enjoying Melbourne. We were there during Christmas and the holiday spirit made the city especially interesting.

Unique Quality: The pool was so, so, but we only tried it once. The cost of parking was about what can be expected for a big city.

We stayed here on my husband's Marriott points and so I don't really know cost-wise how pricey this place is.

Hotel in the Center of Everything!!!

Great service in this hotel and very clean. The concierge was really helpful, giving us directions, sightseeing advice, and called up a cab for us 5:30am to get to the airport.

There is a separate dressing area leading to the bathroom. Newspapers and some magazines every morning. Coffee and tea in the cupboard plus a coffee maker and small toaster.

7/11 is just across the street if you turn right when you go out the hotel door. Next to it is Subway which is open upto 11pm.

Chinatown is on the next block so you'll never run out of places to eat even late at night.

The hotel is also within walking distance of Bourke St. Mall and Collins Street going in the direction of Chinatown. You can find a City Circle Tram very near, on the intersecting street when you walk to the left of the hotel.

Unique Quality: Big room, comfortable beds.

More about Marriott Melbourne

Not happy

by TripAdvisor Member chellelouise

My husband and I stayed there for 1 night and we wanted to go home . The beds were okay. WE went to go for a swim and the heated pool was freezing cold when it is supposed to be open 24 hours and heated and we couldnt even use it nor the spa was turned off. The fans in the bathroom didnt even work properly. We wish we had of stayed at crown for an extra $100. Parking cost $25 plus the $75 isnt worth it for the executive lounge it was more like a backpackers the food was terrible and we had to get a refund .
We wished we had of stayed at crown.

Great service

Nice clean hotel in a great location. The staff were VERY helpful indeed from the second we arrived. The concierge Anthony couldn't have been more helpful. He found out where we needed to go and got us the maps etc we needed. He then asked the next day how our trip had been. To be honest we stayed here to see a concert in Melbourne and then to visit Phillip Island so I can't really comment on Melbourne itself - but we found the Marriott a great hotel with great staff and perfect for what we were after.

Boxing Day Test

by TripAdvisor Member ANDY-OAFC

Stayed here for the Boxing Day Test. Pleasant stroll to MCG, City Centre or River and a couple of minutes to free city circular tram stop. Loads of restaurants and bars nearby, particularly China and Greek Towns.

Our room was spacious, great beds and in first class order. Reception / concierge / bar / room service & restaurant / maid service were all excellent. The pool and gym are basic but clean.

If visiting again I wouldn't hesitate to book here.

Great service

The room was spacious and very clean, the bed and bedding great, the location perfect but the best feature of all was the staff. Without fail they were cheerful, helpful and prepared to make us feel like we were valued guests of the hotel. Smiles all around.

Nice welcome

by TripAdvisor Member Trelor71

On arrival greeted with a glass of bubbly by very courteous staff.
Unfortunately cases failed to arrive at room until several calls to reception. Lack of mirrors in room. Furnishing a little bit dated.
Eat in restaurant one night, excellent meal and service first class. Location of hotel good, near to free tourist bus stop and Chinatown close by. Bar area very good, entertainment and TV all good, staff very efficient. We would stay here again, no worries!

Beautiful Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member mdc80

Stayed at this hotel early march for two nights.

The hotel is lovely. The rooms are very large and have plenty of room to move around. Each room has a large bathroom and a little luggage room with wardrobe.

The hotel is a short stoll from Bourke St Mall and is located in the Theatre district and Financial District.

The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. Checkin was very quick. We arrived at 9:30 in the morning and they put us straight into our room without saying anything.

The pool is open 24 hours and is heated, although is was a little cool, but im sure this is just for summer, as there is nothing worse than getting into a hot pool when the temperature is warm! Im told is is warmer during the winter months.

Also has a Spa adjacent to the pool that is quite large and very relaxing. Other facilities include a Sauna and it also has a well equipped gym.

I cant comment on the restaurant as we sampled much of Melbourne's fine cuisine.

Could not recommend a better hotel if you are in Melbourne for any event particularly shows.

Lives up to the rating

by TripAdvisor Member thechinesecockney

This hotel lives up to the Marriott brand. Not the best location for the city, but the free city circle tram line is close by, or alternatively a 15 or 20 mins walk to Flinders Station or the main shopping area. It is close to the theatre district and chinatown.

Check was quick and the staff were very friendly and efficient. They even poured a glass of orange juice for us while we were checking in, The room was an excellent size, and clean. Had all the amenities that you would expect from a hotel of this quality.

The hotel has a restaurant and a bar, and I can recommend the restaurant, as we had a excellent dinner there on the first night. The breakfast there is also excellent quality.

The only negative is that the pool is very small, a couple of strokes will get you from one end to the other! Apart from that you can't go much wrong with staying at this hotel.
