Avalon Airshow

by wise23girl

I find there are 3 different grandstands for Gold Pass holders......never been there. Should we book Sabre...Spitfire..or Meteor.
Thanks

Re: Avalon Airshow

What time is the "real action" of flying taking place and which way do the 3 different stands point? (I'm thinking of sun angle - is there a web site with a plan of the 3 stands)

Re: Avalon Airshow

by wise23girl

I cannot find a map of the grandstands...just the names and all have quite a few seats booked already.

Friday a display 3pm to 9pm

Sat and Sunday 10am to 4.30pm

We plan to go Saturday

The runway is North-South.

On this map (of ticketmaster) you can see where the stands are.

http://www.ticketmaster.com.au/seatingchart/156650/36747

And here how to choose

http://www.ticketmaster.com.au/Avalon-Airport-tickets-Lara-Vic-Australia/venue/156650

(on the right is says: "view a seating chart").

Hope it helps a bit.

Re: Avalon Airshow

So all the stands are facing west.

Thank you so much.....You must be a plane buff...and the answer comes from the Netherlands...

I am a bit of a novice...I could not find a plan.

Thanks

:-)

Yes, I work in aviation so it caught my attention and out of curiosity searched the website, as I had not heard of it before.

It's a little out of the way for me but I am sure you'll enjoy!

Check out the Ticketmaster website. Meteor seems to be the one - I also looked at Corporate Hospitality for the show and they appear to use Meteor - always a good sign :) But not many seats left...

Re: Avalon Airshow

BTW the plan of the site is provided if you go to book general admission through Ticketmaster. With the Gold Pass they only provide a seating plan of the grandstand.

Re: Avalon Airshow

Booked 2 in Meteor.....only 2 more left in Meteor

Some still available in Sabre. They were going before my eyes....had a count down clock which caused a bit of panic!!!!

Thanks guys

Travel Tips for Melbourne

Thanks Bunyip Tours

by adamlazz

I took part in a Great Ocean Road tour with Bunyip tours and it was a great decision. The small personal group with a tour guide that had great knowledge was really amazing. The Otway Ranges and the coast (12 apostles, Shipwreck cove, London bridge) had a amazing view. It was a unforgettable experience. The feeling i got the most out of the time i was here thanks to Bunyip Tours.

RIALTO TOWERS. The Melbourne...

by Adeline_Foo

RIALTO TOWERS. The Melbourne Observation Deck is located 253 metres above the city on the 55th floor of the landmark Rialto Towers, the tallest office building in the Southern Hemisphere. The Observation Deck offers spectacular 360-degree views of Melbourne and surrounds from large internal and external viewing areas. The Melbourne Observation Deck is situated on the corner of Collins and King Street in the heart of the CBD. It is easily accessed by public transport on the Collins Street tramline and is only a short walk from Melbourne's two major train stations, Spencer and Flinders stations. It costs AUD10.50 per person adult ticket to go up to the Observation Deck. Elevators travel 55 floors in 38 seconds to ferry passengers to the top of the Rialto to the observation deck, where visitors can enjoy sweeping views for 60kms (on a very clear day) in each direction, taking in the Great Dividing Range to the north, Mornington Peninsula to the south, the Dandenongs to the east and the Yoo Yangs to the west. The Rialto Towers (253m/830ft) is ranked 15th in the World Federation of Great Towers. The number one spot was held by The CN Tower, Toronto Canada (553m/1815ft).

ST PAUL'S CATHEDRAL. This...

by Adeline_Foo

ST PAUL'S CATHEDRAL. This cathedral is located at the corner of Swanston and Flinders Streets. The lovely warm stone of St Paul's Cathedral with its lofty spires and towers and trees, gives it an air of calm, as it stands at this busy intersection. It was on this site, once a corn and hay market, that Melbourne's first official church service was held in 1836. The cathedral was started in 1880 and completed in 1931. Its interior features superb stained glass windows and lovely cedar woodwork and craved in gothic style.

Some food tips...

by grkboiler

When you hear someone say "Macca's", they are talking about McDonald's.

If Hungry Jack's looks similar to Burger King, its because it IS Burger King.

Say you are in a restaurant and you want to order a sandwich with everything on it - you will order it "with the lot". As in "souvlaki with the lot".

That one day in September....

AFL Grand Final - Australian Football League GF betweeen Essendon Bombers and Brisbane Lions. This was in 2001 and my beloved Bombers were beaten! Not a good day to be at the footy I tell you. But we stayed to the end, give us that. Bring your binoculars, beer, meat pie and hat and suncream. Also your fave team's jumper or scarf, and yell your lungs out!
