Visit the specialty streets......

Visit the specialty streets... Chapel St and Toorak Rd (fashion streets), Collins St (fashion & business) Brunswick St (alternative culture), Johnson St (Spanish), Little Bourke St (Chinatown), Lygon St (Italian), and Fitzroy St and Acland St (continental). There's many fond memories. Usually when I travel away I think back to the fun lifestyle of Melbourne, as it caters to everyone's needs. I love the cafe and dining culture, the great fashion and music, and nightlife. It is such a picturesque city with gardens scattered everywhere and interesting architecture from the old to the new.
The St. Paul' Cathedral is...

The St. Paul' Cathedral is one of the nicest Gothic churches in Melbourne. Located at Swantston Walk/Flinders Street corner remains one of Melbourne's busiest intersections today, ensuring the Cathedral a place at the heart of city life. For more historical info about the church, click here.
Hook Turn
by fishandchips
Melbourne is home of one the most bizzare road items - the hook turn. Cars turning right on some of the busy inner city streets all line up on the far left of the street until the lights change then rapidly turn right as the oncoming traffic starts to move. Looks quite bizzare but seems to keep the traffic moving!!
Packing List
by alisonr
It can get rather rainy and cold during Melbourne's winter so pack a jumper and coat. On the other hand, the summers can get extremely hot, like 40 degrees c, so allow for that too. You can easily buy all sorts of medicine and toiletries in Melbourne, except if you are coming from o/s and have a different sort of medicine you should bring the prescription or just lots of it! You can buy film and batteries all over the city and surrounds, so don't panic! If you are going up to the Grampians or out of Melb, you can also buy these things, but if you have a particularly special sort of film or battery, bring your own supplies. The rivers and beaches around the country can be dangerous - don't let me scare you, but it is true. If you are swimming in a deserted area, you MUST check with the locals first about the safety of the river or sea, due to the danger of rips and strong currents. Just for your own safety. The Australian sun is particularly harsh, so make sure you wear a hat and sunscreen!! If you are fair you will get burnt very easily, especially if you are from a country that does not have strong sun. The Ozone Layer has been depleted over Australia so the sun's rays are very dangerous.
Booth
by dracko
This is one of the weirdest things you'll see. Part movie theater, part photo booth. You'll find it on the ground floor of ACMI, in the Federation Square. Once inside, the Booth will play 3 short films of your choice (out of 16 or so), typically 60-90 seconds long. At some point during each film, a camera will take a photo of you, and after you're done with the screening, you get a "souvenir" that's printed at the back of the booth that includes your photo and something about the film that you watched. You can get up to three printed souvenirs, depending on how much you pay. It's A$4 for one, A$6 for two, and A$8 for three. You also get your own character in the Virtual Reality version of the booth on its website.
The films tend to be somewhat odd, but at such short duration it is to be expected. Be sure to pick Pneumatic as one of the movies. Was my favorite of the three.
